Announcement today: Arsenal tipped to complete €63m club-record signing

In an exciting update for Arsenal supporters, the Gunners are set to announce the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Monday, as per reports in Germany.

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe during his spell with Borussia Dortmund, as evidenced last season with 40 goals in 46 games.

However, according to Bild, he will now start a new challenge in the Premier League with Arsenal, as they claim that a deal will be announced on Monday between the two clubs.

The fee is said to be €63m, while Aubameyang will earn €10m-a-year plus bonuses at the Emirates. If the former figure is accurate, that will make the Gabon international the club’s record signing, eclipsing the £52.6m spent on Alexandre Lacazette last summer, as per BBC Sport.

With an opportunity to link up with former teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan as well as another creative playmaker in Mesut Ozil, Aubameyang will surely be relishing the thought of getting service from them to continue his prolific goalscoring rate.

Add Lacazette to that equation too, and the departure of Alexis Sanchez this month doesn’t seem like the worst thing in the world as Arsene Wenger would have done a great job of filling that void and making his side a stronger all-round unit.

However, there has been no announcement yet despite Bild’s confidence in suggesting that it’s merely a matter of time, and so the Arsenal faithful may not have too much longer to wait to welcome a marquee signing to north London…
