Medical scheduled: Aubameyang set to take step closer to sealing Arsenal move

Arsenal have reportedly scheduled a medical for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as he edges ever closer to joining the Gunners ahead of the transfer deadline.

As per Sky Sports, the 28-year-old has arrived at the club’s training ground ahead of possibly completing his £60m move from Borussia Dortmund.

That would suggest that both parties are confident that a deal will be secured to allow him to move to the Emirates, but naturally there are still formalities to be completed before he is officially announced as an Arsenal player.

According to BBC journalist David Ornstein in his tweet below, Aubameyang is expected to undergo his medical with the Gunners on Wednesday morning, which arguably leaves them without a great deal of time on the final day of the window to get everything in order.

Importantly though, he adds that Dortmund are still looking to secure a deal for a replacement for the Gabon international, and it’s unclear whether or not they will green light his exit if they are unable to find someone to replace the goals that he has scored for them in recent seasons.

It’s going to be difficult as he’s bagged 141 goals in 213 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, including 21 in 24 games this season despite experiencing off-the-pitch issues regarding his future.

That aside though, his quality on the pitch can’t be argued with, and if Arsenal are able to pair him together with the likes of former teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette, then Arsene Wenger is surely going to enjoy what he sees from his new-look attack.

Nevertheless, until Aubameyang has officially put pen to paper and is unveiled to the supporters, there are still reasons to be concerned from an Arsenal perspective over whether or not the transfer will go through before Wednesday night’s deadline.
