Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to Arsenal is a done deal as Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the striker’s departure on their official website.
The Gabon international’s move was announced by Dortmund before the Gunners, but all signs had pointed for some time towards a deal being done today.
Aubameyang’s arrival looks a good one for Arsenal as they lost star forward Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United this January, leaving a major hole to fill up front.
Aubameyang has been one of the best attacking players in Europe in recent years, scoring 141 goals in 213 games in total for Dortmund.

The club have released a statement bidding him farewell as we just await confirmation from Arsenal, though there seems little more to announce other than his squad number at his new club.
Dortmund’s website quote club chief Michael Zorc as saying: ‘Apart from the unpleasant events of recent weeks, we like to remember that the story of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at BVB for more than four years was a single success story.
‘He has done great things for Borussia Dortmund at this time, scored many important goals and is part of the team that brought the DFB Cup to Dortmund in 2017. We wish Pierre-Emerick all the best for his future at Arsenal.’
Arsenal fans will be delighted to see such a big name coming in, and Aubameyang could do well at the club alongside former Dortmund team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who joined from Manchester United earlier this month as part of the Sanchez deal.
UPDATE: Arsenal have also announced the deal, with Mkhitaryan being used in the promotional video:
