Arsenal confirmed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Wednesday, and now they’ve revealed the iconic shirt number that he’ll be wearing.
As reported by BBC Sport, the 28-year-old has signed for the Gunners in a deal worth £56m, making him the club’s record signing.
Given his goalscoring record in Germany, where he scored 141 goals in 213 games for Borussia Dortmund, expectations will be high as he links up with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates.
That’s a lot of creativity and goals between that quartet based on their numbers in recent seasons, but the pressure will be on the Gabon international especially after it was revealed that he would wear the No.14 jersey for Arsenal, as confirmed in the video below on the club’s official Twitter account.

Naturally, the No.14 shirt holds a lot of weight in north London, with club legend Thierry Henry previously wearing it during his glittering spell with the Gunners.
Of course, Theo Walcott vacated the number after his January move to Everton, and so now Aubameyang will hope to become a fans favourite and live up to the standards set by Henry.
