Video: Olivier Giroud reacts as Chelsea fans seem to boo him at Stamford Bridge unveiling

Chelsea new-boy Olivier Giroud seemed to be greeted by a few boos at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night just shortly after completing his transfer from bitter rivals Arsenal.

The slightly frosty reception certainly didn’t go unnoticed by the France international, who appeared to mimic the fans’ booing as he walked back down the tunnel after going onto the pitch for his unveiling.

Giroud did not play against Bournemouth due to only completing his move hours earlier, but was joined by fellow new-boy Emerson Palmieri on the Stamford Bridge pitch.

Given the rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal, it’s little surprise to see that a few of the home crowd jeered him, even if only light-heartedly.

It might have got to the 31-year-old, though, as he appeared to make reference to it in the footage below, if you watch from around the 5.11-minute mark.

Not many players move between Chelsea and Arsenal, with Ashley Cole the last to make the direct move from the Emirates Stadium to Stamford Bridge.

Since then, Lassana Diarra and Petr Cech moved in the opposite direction, though neither were first choice with the Blues when joining the Gunners.

Cesc Fabregas is a big name to have played for both clubs, though he had a spell at Barcelona in-between.
