Chelsea fans are absolutely livid to see January deadline day signing Olivier Giroud only starting on the bench against Watford in tonight’s Premier League clash.
The France international joined from rivals Arsenal on the final day of the transfer window in what looked like a smart swoop for a proven centre-forward to fill in as cover for Alvaro Morata.
The Spaniard is out of this game due to an injury, and hasn’t been at his best this season anyway, though Chelsea have stuck with Eden Hazard in a false 9 role tonight.
Suffice to say, fans are not happy at all as they question the wisdom of signing a big-name striker only to then not use him in an important game.
Chelsea are in a poor run of form and desperately need to improve if they are to ensure they finish in the top four this season.
Giroud on his own would not be enough to help that, but there’s certainly a case for him playing and Conte is now bearing the brunt of fans’ anger after leaving him out…
