Great news for Arsenal, triple fitness boost ahead of Tottenham showdown

Arsenal and Tottenham are preparing for the north London derby this weekend, and Arsene Wenger has seemingly had some very positive news.

The Gunners looked impressive going forward in their 5-1 win over Everton last time out, with January signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan leading their charge.

However, they still looked vulnerable at the back, and their defensive record in the Premier League shows where the obvious weakness in their team lies as they’ve conceded 35 goals in 26 games, giving them the joint-worst record of the top eight sides in the standings.

In turn, this will be music to the ears of Wenger as it could have been a lot worse for them, but the Evening Standard suggest that Nacho Monreal and Petr Cech will be available for selection against Spurs, while Danny Welbeck will seemingly recover too and take his place in the match day squad.

Monreal and Cech have been ever-present this season and so that’s not to suggest that they’ll solve the problems in the backline, but their experience and quality do count for something and it will be needed in a big game like this.

Wenger needs to find a balance in his side between now and the end of the season as he can’t just look at his attacking options and expect to blast teams away. Especially with Harry Kane to stop this weekend, he’ll hope that Monreal and Cech can be crucial in getting a positive result.
