Chelsea manager target Luis Enrique is reportedly preparing to move to the Premier League as he is eager to test himself against the biggest names in the managerial world.
The English top flight is currently home to some of the finest tacticians in the game, with battles against Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola described as major motivations for Enrique as he looks to move to England, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Enrique had a fairly easy time of things in his spell as Barcelona boss, in truth, with the Catalan giants only really facing strong competition for the title from Real Madrid in recent times, even if Atletico have also improved immensely under Diego Simeone.
Pitting his wits against Mourinho, Guardiola and even Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino would surely be a big step up, and that could be what sees him eventually move to Chelsea.
The Telegraph, however, note that the Spaniard is not yet ready to step in for Antonio Conte straight away, with many of his preferred coaching team not currently available.
The 47-year-old would like to work alongside Juan Carlos Unzue, Robert Moreno, Rafel Pol and Joaquin Valdes, though all are currently on the books at Celta Vigo.
The Telegraph add that it isn’t entirely certain Enrique would be take to lure Unzue, currently Celta manager, with him to Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Star recently claimed Enrique already had an agreement with Chelsea, while Don Balon claimed he already had a top transfer target in mind for the Blues in the form of Luis Suarez from his old club Barcelona.
