Arsenal in three-way battle to seal transfer of £35million midfielder

Arsenal are reportedly in a three-way transfer battle over Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi with Premier League rivals Everton and West Ham, according to Le 10 Sport.

The France international has been linked with a move to the Premier League before, and spent some time here earlier in his career in spells with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

However, it is in Spain that his career has really taken off and he shone at Sevilla under Unai Emery, who replaced Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager earlier this summer.

Arsenal could also do with new signings in midfield after the departure of Jack Wilshere at the end of his contract, while players like Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny don’t really up to the job of playing for a club with Arsenal’s ambitions.

Arsenal face competition for Steven N’Zonzi transfer

N’Zonzi seems a far better fit with his powerful play and strong all-round game in the middle of the park, and the Daily Mail have previously claimed he wants out of Sevilla.

That report states the 29-year-old has a £35million release clause but his desire to leave could mean he moves for closer to £22m.

That makes him perfectly affordable for clubs like Everton and West Ham as well, who could both do with a top class signing to boost their hopes of a top half finish and perhaps an outside chance of securing Europa League football.
