Bid made: Liverpool lead Real Madrid in battle for striker transfer after submitting £79m offer

Liverpool are reportedly leading Real Madrid in the running to seal the transfer of Paulo Dybala from Juventus this summer.

The Argentina international has been linked strongly with the Reds in recent times, with journalist Mootaz Chehade also claiming earlier today that they’d made contact with the player’s agent.

It may now be that things are stepping up, however, with Don Balon reporting that LFC have also made an offer of £79million for Dybala, who is also linked with Real Madrid in the piece.

In a slightly bizarre claim, Don Balon say those close to Ronaldo have advised Madrid president Florentino Perez to move for Dybala, who would make some sense as a direct replacement for the Portugal international.

It has also been reported by Calciomercato that Dybala could be one of the names already being considered by Real to fill the void left by Ronaldo, whom Don Balon also say wants the striker out of Juventus so he doesn’t threaten his place as star of the team.

Most importantly for Liverpool, Don Balon suggest they are in pole position for the player at the moment, with Jurgen Klopp described as being eager to reinforce his attack to have a better stab at winning the Champions League next season, having come so close in 2017/18.

Paulo Dybala could be a great signing for Liverpool

More options to rotate with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino would be a good place to start, and Dybala seems an ideal fit alongside those players to continue to build a superb attacking side at Anfield.
