Unai Emery open to more Arsenal signings and responds to Steven N’Zonzi transfer links

Arsenal manager Unai Emery gave a press conference today as his side prepare for pre-season, with the transfer window unsurprisingly a topic of discussion.

The Spanish tactician replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium this summer and has a big job ahead of him in north London, but seems in confident mood.

The Gunners have been busy so far in terms of signings, with Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi all coming in.

Emery says this has left him happy with the state of his Arsenal squad, though he did not rule out more signings if the opportunity became available.

‘At the moment, I think the squad is complete. We will only sign a player in the next month if he’s a big opportunity,’ Emery is quoted by football.london.

One player linked with the club has been Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, a player Emery will know well from his time in charge there.

Le 10 Sport have linked the France international with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham, but Emery says no move has been made for him so far.

‘I know him (N’Zonzi) but we haven’t made a move for him,’ he said.

Still, given his suggestion that he’s open to making more signings, N’Zonzi would make sense as one to go for due to his quality in midfield making him such a big upgrade on players like Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka, while Jack Wilshere’s recent departure is also a blow in that area.
