Man Utd ace edging ever closer to €21m exit after key development

While the Man Utd squad flew out to the US on Monday, it’s reported that Daley Blind has joined up with the Ajax squad ahead of his return to the club.

As seen in the tweet below, Jose Mourinho and his players are set to step up their pre-season preparations this week as they gear up for the new campaign with the International Champions Cup across the Atlantic.

However, it appears as though Blind will not be part of their plans moving forward, as De Telegraaf report that the Dutchman has travelled to Burton upon Trent to link up with the Ajax camp ahead of their Champions League qualifying clash against Sturm Graz.

Further, it’s added in the report that the versatile Dutch international will complete a move back to his homeland in a deal worth €21m in total, with Erik ten Hag evidently keen on linking up with the former Ajax star to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Blind, 28, joined Man Utd in 2014 and has gone on to make 141 appearances in total for the Premier League giants while winning an FA Cup and Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

Despite seemingly being a very useful part of the squad given his ability to play in various positions, it doesn’t seem to be enough to convince Mourinho to keep him at the club as he nears an exit this summer, as per De Telegraaf.

Having struggled with fitness and the fierce competition for places at United last season, it’s arguably a logical move from the Red Devils as they’ll potentially now use those funds to continue to pursue their own transfer targets this summer to strengthen Mourinho’s squad in other departments.
