Manchester United are reportedly interested in a potential transfer swoop for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal as his future looks in some doubt.

The Chile international has been left off Bayern’s pre-season tour, supposedly due to injury, though his agent is in Germany to discuss his future, according to El Mercurio, with translation from the Metro.

Vidal could certainly be a fine signing for United in midfield, a position in which they could do with strengthening this summer, even after signing Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The experienced South American battler seems ideal for the fast-paced and physical style of the Premier League, and the Metro state he’s been a long-term target for both the Red Devils and Jose Mourinho.

They also add that the 31-year-old could be available for as little as £26million this summer, while Inter Milan are also interested in securing his signature.

Given Paul Pogba’s struggles at Old Trafford, it makes sense that Mourinho could look to improve his options in the middle of the park, and Vidal notably struck up a superb partnership with the Frenchman during their time together at Juventus.

Reviving that combination could be key to improving Pogba’s form if United can indeed pull this deal off.
