Some Arsenal fans get very excited as transfer target enjoys banter with AFC star

Barcelona midfielder Ousmane Dembele has ignited transfer debate following a social media message to French teammate Alexandre Lacazette.

Dembele signed for the Catalan giants last summer for £135.5 million – as per BBC Sport – but endured mixed fortunes last season with the club, missing much of the year due to injury.

According to Metro Sport, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has alluded to perhaps adding one more signing to his squad this summer, ideally a winger that can add pace to his team ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Further, while Dembele would certainly fit the bill in that regard for the Gunners, the 20-year-old has in fact been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer as a potential option to bolster Emery’s attacking options, as per The Express.

Given the Spaniard already has Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at his disposal, it’s questionable as to whether or not more is needed in that department.

Nevertheless, the messages seen below on Instagram between Dembele, Lacazette and Alex Iwobi have sparked fresh transfer speculation amongst supporters.

In the social media post shared by Gunners midfielder Iwobi above, Dembele responds to a post about Lacazette along with a reply from Iwobi, and Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to fuel the rumours.

The Barcelona star returned to the Nou Camp this summer as a World Cup winner after France lifted the trophy in Russia by defeating Croatia 4-2 in the final.

If Emery can indeed convince Dembele to switch to the Emirates it would represent a huge coup for the club and could potentially increase Arsenal’s chances of not only returning to the Champions League next season but also perhaps of genuinely competing for the Premier League title having also shored things up at the back this summer with several defensive signings.
