Paul Pogba on why he ditched changing his hairstyle during World Cup after Man Utd ace faced heavy criticism

Aside from his impressive performances on the pitch for France at the World Cup, Paul Pogba also surprised many by keeping a low profile in Russia.

As seen in the tweets below, the 25-year-old has been known for his stand-out hairstyles since he returned to Man Utd, something that he has attracted criticism for as he hasn’t always been able to showcase his best form for the Red Devils.

As noted by the Manchester Evening News, BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has often been the biggest critic of the Frenchman in terms of his hairstyles and it overshadowing his talent, but he certainly isn’t the only one with the likes of Roy Keane and Graeme Souness also speaking out previously.

Perhaps with that in mind or merely for personal reasons, Pogba didn’t go for anything too extravagant in Russia this summer as he played an influential role for France in winning their second World Cup.

As seen in the image below taken from his Instagram stories, he has explained that he opted to ditch the fancy hairstyles to focus on his football and avoid giving ammunition to his critics to attack his personal look.

It seemed to work wonders, and so it remains to be seen if this is something that continues when he reports back to club duty with Man Utd.

If it leads to the Pogba we saw this summer on a consistent basis, Jose Mourinho may well be desperate to see it happen…
