Chelsea receive transfer boost as £30m+ target keen on joining Blues

With Maurizio Sarri still looking to stamp his mark on the Chelsea squad this summer, Wilfried Zaha has reportedly made it known that he wants a move to join the Blues.

The Italian tactician took over from compatriot Antonio Conte last month, and it will lead to a drastic change for Chelsea, as already seen in pre-season, given the different approaches the pair have.

While Conte favoured a more pragmatic and organised style, Sarri has been lauded in recent years for his work at Empoli and particularly Napoli, adopting an expansive and high tempo style that may require personnel changes at Chelsea in order to successfully implement it.

After The Sun had paired the Blues with a move for Crystal Palace winger Zaha in a reported £30m plus Danny Drinkwater offer, which is said to have been rejected, it’s now claimed by The Mirror that Chelsea may well have received a boost as the 25-year-old could push for a move having reportedly told individuals at the club that he wants a move to Stamford Bridge.

It remains to be seen how the Eagles deal with that as Zaha remains a key figure in their plans, as evidenced by his nine goals and five assists in just 29 Premier League games last season.

Nevertheless, he could offer Sarri an alternative option in the final third to add quality and depth to allow Chelsea to compete on several fronts next season, while his pace, creativity and eye for goal could add a difference dynamic to the side.

However, time will tell as to whether his reported will to leave Selhurst Park is enough to force a move through, with Chelsea still seemingly having to make a satisfactory bid to their London rivals and have it accepted.
