Chelsea given hope of signing £60m star as club ponder special transfer arrangement

An intriguing report details how Chelsea may yet have a glimmer of hope of sealing the transfer of Christian Pulisic.

Despite the Daily Mail mainly stressing that Borussia Dortmund won’t want to sell the USA international, it also mentions that the Bundesliga giants could have reason to fear losing him for cheaper in a year’s time.

With that in mind, the Mail’s report states that Dortmund may yet be open to agreeing a deal that would see the £60million-rated attacker agree a transfer a season before actually moving on, as Liverpool did with Naby Keita and RB Leipzig.

Pulisic is one of the most exciting young players in Europe at the moment and Chelsea are mentioned as one of his main suitors by the Mail, along with Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 19-year-old could be a great fit at Stamford Bridge as the Blues could do with long-term replacements for ageing wide-men Willian and Pedro up front.

In many ways, with the youngster arguably still lacking the experience and pedigree to go straight into Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI, waiting a year to bring him in could be the best option for CFC.

As noted by the Mail, Dortmund have been punished for holding on to a star player for too long before as they ultimately lost Robert Lewandowski to Bayern on a free transfer.

It could still be that they’ll look to avoid making the same mistake with Pulisic, and Chelsea fans will hope that’s good news for them.
