Manchester United to launch last-ditch transfer swoop for £75m star as Jose Mourinho green lights potential player exchange

Posted by

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly preparing to launch a late transfer swoop for Chelsea winger Willian in a possible exchange deal involving Anthony Martial.

According to the Daily Mirror, both players, valued at £75million, could yet be set for moves before next week’s transfer deadline due to varying issues at their respective clubs.

The report explains that Mourinho has lost patience with Martial and wants to offload the France international, while Willian has also caused some trouble with new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri due to his late return for pre-season.

This exchange seems ideal for both sides if they can come to an agreement, with Willian more suited than Martial to the demanding style of play at United under Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician hasn’t given Martial too many opportunities to start matches, with the 22-year-old not exactly a natural wide-player or much of a hard worker in terms of tracking back.

Meanwhile, Chelsea could do with freshening up a side that finished 5th last season and a talented youngster like Martial could be more of a natural fit under an attack-minded coach like Sarri.

Anthony Martial could leave Manchester United in a swap deal for Chelsea’s Willian

The Italian tactician had his Napoli side playing some fantastic football last season, taking players like Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne to new levels.

Chelsea will hope he could unlock Martial’s potential in a similar way.
