Chelsea keen on player exchange deal as Man Utd express interest in ace

Chelsea are keen on the idea of inserting Anthony Martial into a potential swap deal involving Kurt Zouma with the defensive ace linked with a move to Man Utd.

CaughtOffside understands that with Michy Batshuayi linked with a move to Valencia, as reported by the Metro, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is concerned over the lack of firepower in his squad.

Should the Belgian international depart, that would leave Chelsea with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud as their options up front and given that they’ll be looking to compete on various fronts next season, it may not be enough.

Particularly considering Morata’s struggles last season having scored just 15 goals in 48 games, it could be a major risk for the Premier League giants to rely on him again.

In turn, Stamford Bridge sources have told CaughtOffside that after reports early on Thursday morning suggested Man Utd were keen on Zouma to bolster Jose Mourinho’s backline, as per The Express, Chelsea will push to request Martial to be included in any potential deal on deadline day.

The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils in 2015, but despite making 45 appearances in all competitions last season, he struggled to establish himself as a regular in Mourinho’s starting XI.

With that in mind coupled with Chelsea’s needs, the deal would seem to make sense for all parties concerned. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether or not the details of such a move can be agreed upon with time rapidly running out with the deadline approaching.
