Jose Mourinho certainly enjoyed that Luke Shaw goal tonight as Manchester United earned an opening day win over Leicester City in the Premier League.

The England international provided a moment of individual brilliance in the second half as he dinked the ball around his opponent before volleying in to make it 2-0 to United.

The Red Devils went on to win 2-1 as Jamie Vardy pulled one back late on for the visitors, but Shaw’s strike was undoubtedly the moment of the match.

It’s hard not to feel happy for the 23-year-old, who has had as tough a time as anyone at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese has been publicly critical of the player in the past, leading to him being in and out of the starting line up last season and the year before.

Now, however, Shaw looks in fine form and made a very strong start for United today, capitalising on Ashley Young’s absence due to a late return after making it to the World Cup semi-finals with England in the summer.

Despite his patchy relationship with Mourinho, the manager was clearly thrilled with Shaw’s goal today, celebrating passionately on the touch line and with his staff in the pictures tweeted above from a fan account.
