It’s looking as if Barcelona are set to rival French giants PSG in the race to sign Bayern Munich and Spain defender Juan Bernat.

According to Don Balon, the Ligue 1 outfit’s main priority is to bolster their options at left back, and the club are keen on Felipe Luis as well as Bayern’s Bernat.

The report also states that Barca, as well as PSG, are keen on adding to their selection of left backs, and that they too are interested in signing Bernat from Bayern this summer.

PSG and Barca are both in the hunt to add to their quality at left back by signing Bernat

Since moving to Bayern from Spanish outfit Valencia in the summer of 2014, Bernat has managed to clock up a decent amount of appearances considering he’s got to compete with David Alaba at left back.

The 25-year-old has clocked up a total of 113 games for the Bavarian side in his four full seasons with the club, with a large part of these coming in his first year, a campaign where he made 49 appearances in all competitions.

During his time with Bayern, the defender has managed to prove that he’s got the ability to cut it against some of the best teams Germany has to offer, something that should fill both Barca and PSG fans with confidence.

Following this report, it looks like PSG and Barca could be set to go head-to-head in the race to land Bernat’s signature this summer.

Only time will tell whether the player ends up leaving Bayern this summer, and whether or not either PSG or Barcelona end up acquiring his signature.
