League Cup Third Round Draw: Chelsea handed tricky Liverpool draw as Man United given easy route to next round

Chelsea and Liverpool are set to take on one another for a place in the fourth round of the League Cup, after the third draw took place on Thursday evening.

Liverpool, who most recently won the competition in 2012, will have to take on the Blues at Anfield if they wish to progress into the next round of the competition.

Man United, on the other hand, have been handed an easier draw, as the Red Devils will have to take on Frank Lampard’s Derby at Old Trafford for a place in the next round of the competition.

Arsenal will have a London derby to contend with, as the Gunners were drawn up against Championship side Brentford.

Reigning champions Manchester City were given one of the easiest draws of the round, as Pep Guardiola’s men were given the task of playing Oxford United away from home.

Spurs were handed the fairly tricky task of playing fellow Premier League side Watford, a team who have, like Spurs, won all three of their opening Premier League games this term.

We’re sure Liverpool and Chelsea fans won’t be too happy with this draw, as they would’ve surely preferred to see their side get a smaller team for an easier route into the next round.

Whereas United fans will be very happy with their draw, as they will feel as if their side won’t have to be at their best to beat Derby, who haven’t made the best of starts to their Championship campaign this season.

The full draw for the third round can be found on this report from the Telegraph.
