Chelsea star takes important step to impress clubs ahead of potential transfers to Arsenal and two other Premier League suitors

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has reportedly taken a special step to prepare for what looks a likely January transfer window move to another Premier League club.

The former England international has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season and his future with the club looks pretty bleak.

Arsenal are among the clubs keeping an eye on Cahill’s situation, along with Fulham and West Ham, with the 33-year-old hiring a personal trainer to ensure he’s in the best possible shape for a move in the middle of the season, according to the Telegraph.

Cahill has been a great servant to Chelsea since his move from Bolton back in 2012, and is officially still club captain.

However, it seems clear he is not going to make his way back into the starting XI under Maurizio Sarri, and it’s probably for the best if he now moves on.

Arsenal could certainly do well to sign him as a short-term option if they continue to have injuries at the back.

Still, the Telegraph suggest it is Fulham currently leading the race for the player’s signature.
