Real Madrid are reportedly ready to solve their problems in defence with a transfer swoop for Inter Milan defender and Manchester United target Milan Skriniar.

The 23-year-old has shone in his time in Serie A, becoming one of the most sought-after centre-backs in Europe in recent times.

There’s been plenty of speculation linking Skriniar with United, with Tuttomercatoweb recently stating he could even become available for around €70million as they try to replace him with Diego Godin.

Skriniar is now also being linked with Real, however, as Don Balon claims club president Florentino Perez is planning a trip to Italy for talks.

The Spanish outlet also state Perez is keen on Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, another Serie A-based player who could undoubtedly improve this Madrid defence.

It’s been a difficult season at the Bernabeu since the departures of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, but the likes of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane could also do with replacing after a slump in form.

It would no doubt be a blow for Man Utd if they failed to land Skriniar, though ESPN have also linked the Red Devils with the likes of Fiorentina starlet Nikola Milenkovic to solve that problem position.
