Despite speculation over his future prior to signing a new contract, Liverpool star Sadio Mane has insisted that committing himself to the Reds was never in doubt.

As noted by the club back in November, the 26-year-old committed his long-term future to the Merseyside giants having established himself as a fundamental part of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He has once again gone on to prove that this season, with 10 goals and three assists in 28 appearances in all competitions, with the Reds looking to end their long wait for a Premier League title as they continue to lead the way in the table.

Looking back on the decision to sign his contract with the club, Mane has revealed just how easy it was to decide to commit himself, and there is no doubt Liverpool fans will love hearing this from him and his ambitions moving forward as he hopes to write his own name into the club’s history books.

“All I can say is that my only concern is Liverpool,” he is quoted as telling World Soccer, by Sky Sports. “Mo, Bobby… it seemed like everyone was signing contracts and they were saying: ‘Hey Sadio, when are you going to sign?’ I said to each of them: ‘Don’t worry bro, I will sign’.
“And what did I do? I signed… so they are pleased now!

“I’m very happy here and I think people are happy with me too. We want to write our names alongside the many great ones in the story of this club. Hopefully it’s the beginning of something special.”

Time will tell if that happens as there is still a crucial part of the campaign to come. Nevertheless, having come agonisingly close in the Champions League last season and strengthened the squad further to emerge as genuine title contenders this year, Liverpool are certainly moving in the right direction.

Mane will undoubtedly continue to help lead the charge, and based on his comments above, it sounds as though it will take something very special to convince him to leave Anfield.
