Chelsea advance talks over move that could prevent Eden Hazard Real Madrid transfer

Chelsea are reported to have stepped up talks over the potential move to hire Zinedine Zidane as their new manager after Maurizio Sarri’s struggles – and it’s been tipped to help them keep Eden Hazard.

The Belgium international is notably out of contract at the end of next season and would be a huge loss for the Blues if he were to leave.

However, things could change soon as the Sun claim Chelsea have intensified talks over hiring Zidane, which would reportedly encourage Hazard to stay at Stamford Bridge instead of moving to Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old is quoted in the piece as having previously described Zidane as an idol of his, with the Frenchman a similar style of player during his career.

The former Real Madrid boss has since become an excellent coach as well, winning three Champions League finals in a row in his spell in charge at the Bernabeu before leaving the club at the end of last season.

The 46-year-old still hasn’t found himself a new job, so could be a decent option for Chelsea after their recent poor form.

One imagines he’d be an upgrade on Sarri, who has never won a trophy in his career – and it’s starting to show as his team have crumbled in some abysmal recent performances away from home.

In their last three away games in the league, CFC have been beaten 2-0 by Arsenal, 4-0 by Bournemouth, and finally 6-0 by Manchester City – the last of those being their worst ever defeat in the Premier League era.

If Chelsea can bring in Zidane and boost their chances of keeping Hazard by doing so, it could be the best possible scenario for them at this stage as they potentially head into full-blown crisis if they don’t make the top four and then lose their best player at the end of this season.
