Liverpool consider potential transfer of €90m-rated star as rival bid comes in

Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs interested in the transfer of Lille star Nicolas Pepe this summer as Inter Milan make an offer for the forward.

The Ivory Coast international had a superb 2018/19 campaign, contributing 23 goals and 11 assists in all competitions – an excellent return that has made Europe’s elite stand up and take notice.

The latest from the print edition of L’Equipe, as translated by Sport Witness, is that Liverpool are the most interested Premier League club, but that Inter Milan have made a bid for Pepe.

The 24-year-old could be expensive, with the report suggesting Lille will ask for around €90million for him, which Inter are thought to have offered.

If Liverpool want to bring Pepe in, they’ll have to match or better that offer, which might be a little high for them at this moment in time.

While Pepe could be a great fit for the Reds, he doesn’t necessarily make sense as a priority if he’s going to be that expensive.

LFC already have Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane up front, though of course more depth is always welcome, especially if the club are going to achieve the challenging task of overtaking Manchester City next season.
