Barca set to miss out on Neymar as PSG prefer to sell to a specific club

Ever since it became clear that Neymar wanted to leave France, it was logical to believe a return to Barcelona would be on the cards. According to reports, PSG would rather sell him to Real Madrid this summer.

According to Donbalon, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is willing to sanction a move for Neymar after a humiliating 7-3 loss against city rivals Atletico last week.

There’s some good news for Real, as Donbalon reports that PSG President Nasser El Khelaifi would prefer to see the Brazilian superstar move to Madrid. This seems to scupper any hopes the Catalans had of bringing him back.

There is believed to be bad blood between PSG and Barcelona over transfer approaches from both sides in the past.

The report goes on to state that Perez has already met Neymar’s father to agree on contract details should a fee be agreed.

The main issue right now is that there is no agreement in place between Real and PSG at the moment, but it’s not hard to see the Spanish giants stumping up a big fee if a deal could be reached.

It’s not obviously clear where Neymar would fit in at Barcelona right now as they already have a forward line of Messi, Griezmann and Suarez. Either Messi would have to drop deeper or Luis Suarez would need to make way to accommodate the Brazilian.

If Real Madrid could complete the signing, they would be able to sign one of the best players in the world and massively get one over on their biggest rivals at the same time. The prospect of facing Neymar and Eden Hazard at the same time would strike fear into any defence.

PSG could also get some satisfaction by directly strengthening Barca’s biggest rivals.

Will Neymar join Hazard this season?
