Liverpool favourites to pip Chelsea and Arsenal to £45million transfer

Liverpool are being tipped as the favourites to win the transfer battle for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic.

That’s according to bookies Ladbrokes, who have the Reds as just 2/1 to win the race for the USA international’s signature amid ongoing speculation over his future.

Arsenal are priced close behind Liverpool at 3/1, while they have Chelsea as 4/1 at the moment despite some reports suggesting they’re in pole position to secure his signature.

ESPN claim Dortmund want around £45million for Pulisic, and while Chelsea are currently in a strong position, the Bundesliga giants are holding out for other offers as other big names show an interest.

That report also makes mention of Manchester United and Bayern Munich as clubs who could be in the running, but perhaps there’s something we don’t know involving Liverpool.

Christian Pulisic to Liverpool transfer is just 2/1 with Ladbrokes

The Merseyside giants certainly seem a good fit for the 20-year-old’s talents and playing style, with Jurgen Klopp known for playing a similar style of football to that at his old club Dortmund.

The German tactician also has a good track record of trusting and developing youngsters like Pulisic, so perhaps that will eventually put them in a better position than Chelsea.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We’re expecting plenty of clubs to do battle for Pulisic’s signature in the coming weeks and months but as things stand it’s Liverpool who appear most likely to make a move.”

Arsenal may be worth keeping an eye on, however, as ESPN note the potential Stan Kroenke connection that could motivate the club to bring in a top player who’d be good for the club’s marketing in the States.

The Gunners, more than both Liverpool and Chelsea, also look in desperate need of more quality in attack right now as the likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan struggle to hit top form.
