Chelsea players want Maurizio Sarri to play one Blues outcast more often

Chelsea players are reportedly unconvinced by Maurizio Sarri’s use of Eden Hazard as a false nine up front and feel Olivier Giroud should get more opportunities at centre-forward.

The Blues have not looked at their best recently, with Hazard often used up front by Sarri this term despite being better suited to playing out wide.

That said, Alvaro Morata and Giroud have not really delivered either when given the chance, which would explain the Express and others stating the club have moved to close in on the loan signing of Gonzalo Higuain.

According to the Mail, however, some Chelsea players would also like to see Giroud get more playing time, with the France international’s link-up play in that target man role known to be pretty solid.

Chelsea’s move for Higuain is still not done and it may be tricky to get him in in time to take on Tottenham in the Carabao Cup this week.

If that proves to be the case, the club’s players will no doubt hope Sarri can alter his tactics a bit and perhaps give Giroud the nod to lead the line.
