£50m-rated Bundesliga star set to be Manchester City’s final signing of the summer

Manchester City expect to conclude their summer transfer activity with the signing of former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, Guardian Sport reports.

Last season’s Premier League runners-up have already strengthened their squad with the signings of Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph from Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively, while youngsters Enes Unal and Patrick Roberts are viewed as two for the future.

Now it appears any potential deal for Belgian playmaker De Bruyne will be the last piece of business from City in terms of incomings and the club are growing confident in their pursuit of the 24-year-old.

The attacking midfielder, who registered 20 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances and also scored in the German Cup final victory over Borussia Dortmund last season, can reportedly leave the Volkswagen Arena this summer – provided City match their £50million valuation – after failing to agree a new deal with the club.

Officials at the Etihad Stadium are reluctant to meet the hefty price-tag as they have already spent close to that amount on Sterling, but are optimistic of striking an agreement at a lower fee understood to be in the region of £45million.

If City are successful in their attempts to sign De Bruyne before the end of the transfer window, then he could form a mouth-watering midfield trio alongside Sterling and David Silva behind the lone striker in Sergio Aguero and that could install them as favourites for the Premier League title this season.
