Ac Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani admits he is interested in bringing Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani back to Italy.

The 27-year-old has struggled to settle at Anfield since his £17million move from Roma two years ago because of injury.

The Italy international  spent last season on-loan at Juventus and was keen on a permanent deal but the Old Lady did not match Liverpool’s valuation.

Fiorentina also wanted to take him on-loan but a deal collapsed at the final minute leaving Aquilani likely to start the season on Merseyside.

But Milan need a replacement for Andrea Pirlo and Galliani has revealed Aquilani is his choice to be that player.

“He’s a midfielder who has the characteristics we’re looking for so he could be of interest,” he told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Galliani also ruled out moves for Real Madrid’s Kaka, a former San Siro favourite, and Manchester City’s ex-Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli.

“Kaka’s wage is impossible for an Italian club due to the tax system,” he said.

As for Balotelli, Galliani added: “If someone comes in it will be a left central midfielder, not a striker.”

Ac Milan confirmed they will not buy Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas but have hinted he is on his way out of north London this summer.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Barcelona for the last 12 months and the Gunners rejected a £27million bid from the Catalan giants last week.

The Spanish and European champions are expected to up their bid to £35million as Real Madrid have offered £45million for Fabregas, which is closer to Arsenal’s £50million valuation.

The Spain international has expressed his desire to return to his hometown club and has said he will only leave the Emirates for the Nou Camp.

Ac Milan had expressed interest in buying Fabregas this summer but have now ruled themselves out of the race while hinting at his exit.

“Fabregas will not join us because he will join a different club,” AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told the club’s website.

Arsenal are still pursuing their own transfer targets and are on the verge of announcing the signings of Bolton’s Gary Cahill, Southampton’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho for Lille.

Manager Arsene Wenger is also interested in Valencia’s Juan Mata and Blackburn defender Chris Samba.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will attempt to bring AS Roma defender Philippe Mexes to the Emirates this summer.

The French international is out of contract at the end of the season and is looking for a move away from the Stadio Olimpico.

Serie A giants Ac Milan were favourites to sign him but vice-president Adriano Galliani said he has had no contact with the player.

“Philippe Mexes to Ac Milan? He is followed by half of Europe,” he said to RaiDue.

“There is not only us after him. But now we’re not going to disturb him at this time of the season.”

Wenger wants to take advantage of his rivals lethargic attitude and hopes to sign the 28-year-old.

The Gunners boss is after an experienced defender with injury doubts over Thomas Vermaelen and Johan Djourou, and concerns over the form of Sebastien Squillaci.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani says Kaka would have to take a pay-cut to return to the San Siro.

The news will alert Chelsea and Manchester City, who have both been linked with a move for the Brazilian midfielder.

The 28-year-old was a star for Ac Milan before moving to Real Madrid for £56million in 2009.

But his career at the Bernabeu has stalled because of injuries and Jose Mourinho is willing to offload the star to generate funds.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a long-term admirer of Kaka, and the Brazilian would love to work with Carlo Ancelotti again after their time at the San Siro.

Manchester City were close to agreeing a deal with Milan, before his transfer to Spain, but the deal collapsed as City could not guarantee Champions League football.

But Galliani insists there is no deal to bring Kaka back to Serie A and believes any deal will be difficult to push through.

“Kaka’s return to Milan? Ricardo earns too much, because in Spain they pay less taxes,” Galliani told RaiDue.

“I am sorry that he has problems in Madrid, but to come back to us he would have to drop a lot his salary.

“We can afford the wage of only one (player like) Ibrahimovic.”

AC Milan are ready to rescue Mario Balotelli from a difficult start to his Manchester City career.

Roberto Mancini only brought the high-maintenance Italy striker to Eastlands from Inter Milan last summer in a £23million deal.

But the 20-year-old picked up an injury early in his English career and agent Mino Raiola, when asked if Balotelli was happy in Manchester, recently replied: ‘So so’.

The self-confessed AC Milan fan was at the San Siro on Sunday to cheer the team to a 1-0 victory against Inter and reports in Italy say that Serie A’s most successful club are already working on a deal to sign him at the end of the season.

The revelation comes in no uncertain terms from the Mediaset website, which is owned by AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian prime minister.

The club’s chief executive Adriano Galliani, who runs the club day to day, has admitted he would some day like to see Balotelli in a red and black shirt, though Raiola has previously tried to play down the idea that a deal is anything but in the distant future.

It has emerged that Galliani and Balotelli spoke and dined in the same restaurant after the match, but both tried to play down talk of a deal.

‘I have never said anything (about joining Milan),’ said Balotelli. ‘It’s only a coincidence that we were in the same restaurant.

‘Since I left Italy, I am the friend of all the teams. It was nice that Galliani came over to say hello to me.’

Galliani added: ‘We don’t want to create a scene. We don’t bother players and other clubs. Balotelli is a City player and that’s it.’ (Daily Mail)

Ever since signing for Manchester City, Mario Balotelli has been continually linked elsewhere.

The player has certainly given no comments to the press to indicate that he is unhappy at Eastlands under Roberto Mancini, but there has been plenty of talk from his agent, which after just a few months at the club surely cannot be in hope of a new contract.

Even so, Rossoneri fan Balotelli has returned to Italy whenever he has been able, and watching AC Milan play his former club Internazionale might not have been read as such a significant action if he had not spoke with AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani whilst dining in the same restaurant. Otherwise, perhaps he might have just been visiting his old team-mates.

It would be a massive shame if Balotelli left England so soon into his Premier League career.

Whilst he has demonstrated a petulant attitude alongside his undoubtedly outstanding talent, he is most certainly entertaining. The English top flight needs more box office draws such as the 20-year old Italy international.

Beckham has chosen Milan. He’ll stay here in Milan on loan for a few months.

Our squad is ultra-competitive and it will remain this way. But Beckham is something different and intriguing.

Beckham needs to stay fit, and even play a few Serie A or UEFA Cup games for the Rossoneri to be considered for England’s friendly game against Germany in November. He only needs two more caps to surpass World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore as England’s most-capped outfield player.

It is a great deal for Beckham. For Milan? Well, they have yet another 30+ player to add to their under-performing veteran ranks.

The Rossoneri had said that they wanted to bring Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor to the San Siro, but faced competition from Spanish giants Barcelona. However, apart from agent claims that a deal was “80% done”, nothing has gone Milan’s way. As vice president Adriano Galliani states, Milan have seemingly been priced out of the chase:

Adebayor is overridden by continuous requests for €45million. These figures are impossible for clubs in Italy.

Galliani went on to complain that Milan cannot compete with the apparent endless wealth of some of Europe’s biggest players, with transfer targets heading for the bigger stage of England or Spain:

The top footballers in the world do not come here [to Serie A] any more.

When big clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea arrive it is impossible to compete because they have a much more advantageous fiscal situation.

The news will in no way change the stance of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has always maintained that he was not fazed by the speculation and that Adebayor was going nowhere:

He’s under contract and that’s quite simple. I can tell you as manager of Arsenal I’m not worried.

Of course I expect him to be at Arsenal next season – he’s under contract.

But with Adebayor publicly flip-flopping over a move away from the Emirates Stadium and Camp Nou’s busy summer not yet over, is the saga put to bed by the claims from Milan or has it just made it a one-horse race?

Milan remain true to their word, either Adebayor comes or we keep things as they are.

Milan have conceded that Barcelona may have the edge in the race for his signature, and the Rossoneri only have a “50% chance” of signing the striker. Reports suggest that Arsenal have already agreed a €27million deal with Barcelona, but major football agent Ernesto Bronzetti beleives the deal relies on Barca offloading players:

I do know they won’t have the economic means to buy him until they sell Eto’o or Ronaldinho, so I’d advise Milan not to buy either of them or they’ll finance the operation of taking Adebayor to Barcelona.

Bronzetti sees Eto’o and Ronaldinho leaving as key to the Adebayor deal, with both players being told publically that they can leave, a move Bronzetti views as a bad one, losing the Catalans time and money:

Saying the players weren’t needed was a massive strategic error. Now anyone who wants to buy those players is maybe going to wait until August 29.

They’ve spent €57million euros already and their finances aren’t infinite, so now if wait a bit the price for Ronaldinho and Eto’o will go down.
