It might surprise you to hear that out of the three players for which Blackburn have recently received a bid, none of them have been for striker Roque Santa Cruz. Which has got to be a good thing as far as Rovers fans are concerned, although they do have a battle on their hands if they’re to keep hold of all current squad members. Blackburn defender turned down move to Holland

Now Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer has more than a funny name; he has an admirer in Louis van Gaal. Tribal Football reports that the AZ Alkmaar manager did indeed approach his Dutch compatriot earlier this month but was turned down by the player.

The former FC Barcelona coach is quoted as saying:

He is a Dutch citizen, and he has experience. But he would prefer to remain at Blackburn Rovers.

Well, maybe van Gaal must now try and understand that not every player would like to leave the Premiership and play in the Dutch first division.
