Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal target Xherdan Shaqiri is reportedly in talks with Inter Milan.

Italian sources quoted by the German 4-4-2 Web site claim the Treble winners are willing to pay Basel €7 million for the 19-year-old Swiss winger’s services.

Shaqiri has been linked with a host of clubs, including Juventus, Manchester United, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona and Genoa CFC. Liverpool were reportedly taking note of Shaqiri last season, and in September it was reported that he was keen on a move to Anfield.

Shaqiri was one of the youngest players to go to the World Cup, testament to his potential. His pace and dribbling ability helped FC Basel to the league and cup double last term as he contributed six goals and five assists in his debut season.

He has so far scored twice and provided six assists this term, both of his goals coming in the UEFA Champions League.

He also scored a wonderful goal against England in the recent Euro 2012 qualifier. (IM Scouting)

Xherdan Shaqiri is one of the brightest talents in Europe, and naturally a whole host of clubs are battling for his signature.

Now though, it appears that Inter Milan have jumped to the front of the queue, with chairman Massimo Moratti the first to put some money on the table, and rivals for the Swiss international’s signing will have to be quick if they are to compete with the European champions.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is tracking Basel’s highly-rated midfielder Valentin Stocker as he continues to make plans for his Anfield revamp.

Stocker, 21, already has six caps for Switzerland and is renowned for his goalscoring ability.

He scored twice against Wales in last month’s European Championship qualifier.

Liverpool are also watching PSV Eindhoven left winger Balazs Dzsudzsak, 23, along with Arsenal and Tottenham. (Daily Mail)

Valentin Stocker and alternative target Balazs Dzsudzsak both play in a position Liverpool are missing a top quality talent: left midfield.

Maxi Rodriguez has proven himself a useful outlet in recent games, but doesn’t possess the pace, trickery or delivery needed for the team. Being right footed, he also tends to cut inside and move into central areas. Still, his help on the defensive side has made him a valuable player for Liverpool to have available.

Both Stocker and Dzsudzsak would cost less than the likes of Eden Hazard, and their price makes them a more likely purchase in the notoriously difficult January transfer window.
