Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has hit out at the Premier League for the crazy fixture scheduling that is hampering his side.

The Potters boss is angry that all eight of their Europa League games before Christmas are followed by away games in the league.

Besiktas visit the Britannia Stadium tonight in their second group E match and Pulis’ side must travel to Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Stoke lost for the first time this season at Sunderland following a 1-1 draw in the Ukraine with Dynamo Kiev.

“At the beginning of the season, the FA and the Premier League know which clubs are in Europe,” Pulis said.

“They know the European dates and they could try and help those clubs.

“Can we target the cups and try and be successful? Success in the Premier League is staying in it.”

Pulis has also called on his raucous home fans to make a wall of noise for the visit of the Turkish club.

He believes a loud atmosphere will play into Stoke’s hands, with the Potters having proved in Saturday’s draw with Manchester United that the Britannia Stadium can be a difficult place to visit.

“It will be a fantastic night, our biggest European home tie for almost 40 years,” added Pulis.

“The challenge for our supporters is to generate as much, if not more, noise as their fans are sure to make out there.

“The atmosphere at the Britannia Stadium was incredible on Saturday and we need the place to be rocking again come Thursday.”

Tottenham will face Irish giantkillers Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League group stage.

Rovers, the first Irish side to have progressed to this stage of European football, beat Partizan Belgrade 2-1 on Thursday night to secure a place in today’s draw.

The clubs are in Group A against Rubin Kazan, from Russia, and Greek side PAOK Salonika.

Fulham face FC Twente from Holland, Odense from Denmark and Wisla Krakow from Poland in Group K.

Stoke will play Dynamo Kiev, Besiktas and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Group E, while Birmingham are in Group H with Club Brugge, Braga and Maribor.

If Celtic are successful in replacing Sion, who are alleged to have breached a transfer ban, they would be in Group I with Atletico Madrid, Udinese and Rennes.

Manchester United’s on-loan winger Bebe has torn his anterior cruciate ligament ruling him out for the next six months.

The 21-year-old was sent to Besiktas this season to continue his development after struggling to make an impact last year, following his £7.4million move from Vitoria de Guimaraes.

He made just seven appearances for the Red Devils after manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted never watching him play before he signed.

The Portugal U21 international injured his leg playing for his country against Slovakia U21s last night.

A statement on the Besiktas’ website said they had contacted United to discuss where the operation should take place.

“A scan has shown an anterior cruciate ligament tear to his left knee and he will be unable to play for six months,” the statement read.

“Surgery is required and we have contacted Manchester United and there will be a joint decision about where the operation will be done.”

Another injury concern for United is left-back Patrice Evra, who was forced to withdraw from the France squad with a knee injury.

The 30-year-old could miss the season opener against West Brom after being sent by to his club by Les Bleus, after calling up Manchester City new boy Gael Clichy to replace him.

Manchester United winger Bebe has agreed a one-year loan switch to Turkish club Besiktas.

The Portuguese attacker moved to Old Trafford from Vitoria in August 2010 for a reported £7.4m but has struggled for regular first-team opportunities.

Clearly a lot was made about two factors relating to the signing of Bebe back in August. One being the fact that he was signed before Sir Alex Ferguson had even seen him in action first hand and secondly that he was at one point homeless.

As it turns out, the young Portuguese attacker wasn’t really up to the standard of Premier League champions but that said he isn’t as bad as some would have you believe. The 20 year old barely played for United since his big money move, managing just 335 minutes of first team football. Unfortunately those 335 minutes of football happened, coincidentally or not, with some hideous results for the Old Trafford side.

Bebe started the embarrassing 4-0 Carling Cup defeat to West Ham and his only full 90 minutes run out for the club came in Man United’s narrow 1-0 FA Cup win over then conference side Crawley Town.

Manchester United have off-loaded £7.4million flop Bebe to Turkish club Besiktas on a season-long loan with a view to a £2m permanent move.
United shocked the football world last summer by agreeing to meet the release clause in Bebe’s new contract at Vitoria de Guimaraes in Portugal just five weeks after he had signed from Estrela da Amadora.
The winger had only played third division football and was available for £125,000 from his old club just months earlier.

But the 20-year-old, who grew up in a homeless shelter outside Lisbon, spent most of the season in United’s reserves.
His last first-team appearance came against non-League Crawley in the FA Cup in February.

Whilst it would be churlish to claim that Bebe has been an atrocious failure given his relative lack of first team action, it does seem fair to label the £7.4m buy a flop as clearly Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t rate the Portuguese youngster good enough to warrant a place in the first team squad.

A lot was made about the fact that Ferguson signed the attacker without seeing him in the flesh and perhaps this is a lesson learnt. Bebe has impressed in the reserves but clearly that should be a given when you take into account how much was paid for his services.

Bebe can play out wide and up front but has a number of players ahead of him in the pecking order in both positions. The likes of Ryan Giggs, Nani, Gabriel Obertan and the potential incoming Aston Villa man Ashley Young will effectively curtail any hopes of breaking into the first team next term and a move away may be the best for all concerned and if Man United can claw back any of the original outlay then it seems likely Ferguson will take any decent offer that comes along.

Besiktas are looking to bring in a number of new names having completed their worst domestic campaign in 13 seasons with a fifth place spot, some 28 points behind SuperLig winners Fenerbahce.

Robinho has reportedly agreed to join Besiktas, with the club prepared to pay Manchester City £16 million up front and then £10m in future add ons.

The offer means City will recoup a large part of the £32m they paid for the Brazilian, so long as his performances don’t deteriorate at the same rate as they did while he was in England.

Besiktas have been busy in the transfer market this summer, securing the arrivals of Ricardo Quaresma from Inter Milan and Guti from Robinho’s former club Real Madrid and have now set their sights on the Brazilian forward, according to the Guardian.

Besiktas are now managed by Bernd Schuster, who was Robinho’s boss whilst he was in Spain and he is said to be excited by the prospect of reuniting with him.

Schuster said: “I am confident that our chairman will do everything in his power to make this possible.”

Besiktas may have to fend off a late bid from German side Schalke, who are also said to be keen on reuniting him with a former Real Madrid team mate in striker Raul. (Goal.com)

If this an accurate report then I have to say I am surprised that no major offer from one of the top four European leagues decided to make a move for the Brazilian international. Yes its true that Robinho is maybe not the most consistent performer and perhaps he has issues that could destabilize the dressing room but he is a damn fine talent and presumably worthy of a team who is at least plying their trade in the Champions League?

Some reports suggest that Fenerbache may also be considering making a last ditch bid for the 26 year old who had a pretty good World Cup this summer but is deemed as very much surplus to requirements by Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini.

Besiktas failed to finish in the top three in the Turkish Super Lig for the first time in five seasons last term and therefore miss out on Champions League football. They did however persuade Inter Milan winger Ricardo Quaresma to come to the club as well as veteran Real Madrid legend Guti and under new boss Bernd Schuster will be looking to win some significant silverware this season.
