Paul Ince is a feisty young manager who is demonstrating that he’s prepared to fight tooth and nail to defend his team. There were one or two unsavoury (but accurate?) things said about Blackburn in the build-up to Sunday’s match with Chelsea, and the Rovers boss went about putting things right with one or two well-chosen words. Blackburn manager mocks Aston Villa over their money woes: You don’t have the funds for our STRIKER!

Blackburn might be sitting mid-table in the league behind Aston Villa, but that hasn’t stopped manager Paul Ince from making an unnecessary dig at one of his league counterparts. Instead of taking the high road in the recent transfer fight for striker Roque Santa Cruz, Ince has gone out of his way to make sure Villa don’t get his prized striker. He’s claiming that Martin O’Neill doesn’t have the funds to get Santa Cruz! [Read the rest of this entry »]

It’s clear that one of Mark Hughes’ top priorities in January is a decent striker to go alongside Jo, and the Welshman will be encouraged by the latest comments from a player he managed until recently. Once again, take a footballer out of the UK and you’re guaranteed to hear them reveal more than they would in front of the English press. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Youngster ‘falls out’ with Arsenal and looks set to join Blackburn: Sounds like someone else we know!

It’s not always easy being a football manager. You have to try and keep everyone happy, even if they’re warming the bench or bemoaning their lack of progress as they try to make the transition from youth team to first team. Many don’t quite make the grade at Arsenal, such is the competition for places, and it appears that this youngster is going elsewhere to try and find a place in the starting XI. Third time lucky for Manchester City as they go again for Blackburn striker?

by stresster on October 7th, 2008 1 comment

They say that money talks, and Mark Hughes will certainly be hoping that this is the case during the month of January. He may be manager of one of the richest football clubs in the world, yet it matters not when there’s no possibility of signing any new players for another three months. Indeed, since the Abu Dhabi group bought the club, Manchester City have lost matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Wigan, with a 6-0 thrashing of Portsmouth being the only shining light. The Gunners were woeful at Craven Cottage a few weeks ago, and supporters will be hoping for a vast improvement when their team travels to Blackburn on Saturday. Blackburn land £4 million Aussie midfielder: Should add some bite to the team

Rovers are not averse to signing antipodeans, with Lucas Neill, Brett Emerton and Ryan Nelsen having all arrived at Ewood Park in previous seasons. It appears as though Paul Ince has just landed another Australian, and it’s nice for the fans to see someone fairly decent coming into the club, rather than Blackburn losing their best players. Hammers fans enjoyed a magnificent opening ten minutes to the Premier League campaign, with Dean Ashton firing in two early goals to ensure that the team got off to the best possible start against Wigan. However, it’s been downhill ever since, with West Ham getting clobbered at Man City on Sunday, Anton Ferdinand on his way out and rumours of Alan Curbishley getting the sack. What do Stoke, Everton, Hull, Aston Villa and Blackburn have in common?

by stresster on August 22nd, 2008 2 comments
  • Digg

The answer is that they’re all interested in signing a certain striker from Valencia. If the player is that good, you have to question why Los Che are considering farming him out on loan to a Premier League club, and the fact that Stoke and Hull have been linked to the forward may suggest that he’s not exactly on a par with Fernando Torres.
