There was Owen Hargreaves who may not ever play football again at this rate having been injured since 1987, then there was Kevin Nolan a player who finally left Bolton to seek his fortune at a ‘bigger’ club and then found himself relegated to the Championship months later. Micah Richards was in the hot seat last season and for some reason his career has experienced something of a nose dive and could well be offloaded by Mark Hughes this summer!

One wonders who will be asked to take the job on next season, for sheer entertainment value and in the hope of the Curse striking again I would suggest Joey Barton. His recollections of the previous evenings pub brawl are sure to be an eye opener!

Get a free £10 bet on your club by joining William Hill now.
