Seriously if you haven’t heeded our call to action previously then you simply must do so now. Darius Vassell continues to amuse, entertain and inform the masses as to just how he is getting on with life in Turkey and his latest Blog entry is a comedic masterpiece. We are seriously considering writing a letter to the powers that be (whoever they might be) instructing the creation of a “Darius Vassell Day”

My washing machine and dryer should arrive today, i have a mounting of clothes to get through not to mention ironing also.. In my my toilet upstairs there is a shoot which goes down 2 floors into the utility room, allowing me to send all dirty clothes downstairs where they will land into a wash basket… wash baskets! i need to get some of those or the clothes will just be landing on the floor..
Anyways its a good idea and something i could do with at home in England.. Ill test it out with some old vests and socks first make sure theres no blockage. (Darius World)

We love Darius Vassell, whats not to love, a Premier League footballer who decided to go out on a limb and try out life in another part of the world in order to revive his career instead of taking a step down to the Championship. Anyone who has visited his excellent blog would know just how down to earth and amusing his posts can be, if you haven’t already visited CLICK HERE. What seems to work so well for the blog is the whole “Englishman in a strange land” setting that really seems to hit home with many ex pats and also somehow brings top level footballers a little nearer to being just like us ‘normal people’. We highly recommend you visit his site on a regular basis and you will soon find yourself addicted much as we have become.
Below is a snippet of a recent entry that will have you immediately hooked on the adventures of a former England International in Turkey.

Now that Man City have hit the big time there was little need to employ Mr. Vassell in any capacity he was sold to Turkish side Ankaragücü (I haven’t got a clue how to say it either) and you know what…he’s only gone and scored a goal. If you look at the former Aston Villa man’s face he actually looks genuinely surprised to have scored, which given he is a professional footballer who’s job it is to score, is a little worrying, perhaps he’ll get used to this sensation, but we doubt it!
They do know they have bought Darius Vassell, right? It’s not some silly mix up. This procession looks eerily like those organised in repressive regimes who have to threaten people to pretend to support them, there simply can be no other explanation for this somewhat disturbing scene! For the record and so as to shake some sense into these people it’s worth noting that in 12 Premier League seasons Vassell has managed to get into double figures just once!
Manchester City are flying high in the English Premier League at the moment and after doing a double over their city rivals Manchester United, the Blues are confident once again of getting into a European spot at the end of the season. City are favourites to qualify for the UEFA Cup and if their striker Darius Vassell is to be believed, then Sven-Goran Eriksson’s man can even play in the UEFA Champions League.
The former England international striker says:
It was exactly what we needed. We thought that we would let ourselves and the fans down a little bit after a few of our recent results. From the players’ points of view we wanted to give the fans something and you can’t do much more than beat Man United at Old Trafford for City fans. It was a big ask because it hadn’t happened in 30-odd years but we knew that would make them proud of us. To come away with the two results this season, still pushing for a European place, it’s a great position for us to be in and hopefully we can do it.
Can City qualify for the Champions League? Better put your money on them getting into a UEFA Cup spot. That is more feasible at the moment.
The ever-popular Three Things series has expanded to include matchday action, and this weekend we’ll be dealing with the Manchester Derby. Some people saw this match in all its live glory, others on the telly, and some not at all. Either way everyone probably saw it differently and here’s your chance to tell each other what you learned.
So forget the numpteys at Sky Sports or the nerds at the BBC, here’s your chance to tell everyone the three things you learned from this match and see what others thought as well.
Today Manchester City shocked United at Old Trafford and strengthened their Champions League claims by beating their hosts 2-1 courtesy of first half goals from Darius Vassell and Benjani Mwaruwari.
