The fact that the Toffees top scorer this term is full back Leighton Baines tells you all about the problems Moyes has had when it comes to firepower. For all his undoubted ability it is unlikely he will ever adjust to the physical excesses of the English game.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.caughtoffside.com/tag/silvain-distin">Silvain Distin</a></strong></p><p><strong></strong>Can be excellent on his day and is strong going forward for a centre-half but he is prone to make one howler in almost every game. Moyes is limited with what he can do in the transfer window. </strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>But Tottenham want South Africa midfielder Pienaar and he only has six months left on his contract. ‘It may well come to it in the January transfer window that we have to consider selling Pienaar to raise money,’ said the Everton boss.</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>‘We need a striker but, realistically the sort of money we will raise through that route, what type of player is it going to buy us?’</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>Yakubu, <a href="http://www.caughtoffside.com/tag/diniyar-bilyaletdinov">Diniyar Bilyaletdinov</a> and John Heitinga may be preferable sales for Moyes but he admits: ‘It is probably a reality we will have to look at bringing in a loan player.’ (Daily Mail)</strong></p><p>The trouble for <a href="http://www.caughtoffside.com/tag/david-moyes">David Moyes</a> is that with just six months remaining on <a href="http://www.caughtoffside.com/tag/steven-pienaar">Steven Pienaar</a>&#8217;s contract, his sale is unlikely to result in a huge windfall for Everton.</p><p>It is not all rosy for the player either.</p><p>Two teams have been strongly linked with him in the newspapers so far this season: Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.</p><p>Spurs have no need for Pienaar.</p><p>They have a surplus of midfield players already, and the likes of Niko Kranjcar have been vocal in their dissatisfaction with a lack of first team football.</p><p>It is difficult to see Pienaar getting into the Tottenham line-up ahead of their attacking midfield quartet of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Rafael Van Der Vaart or Aaron Lennon.</p><p>That leaves Liverpool then, and while there is certainly room for Pienaar in the starting XI at Anfield, would he really throw away years of affection and respect at Goodison Park with a move to Everton&#8217;s arch rivals?</p><p>Even if Everton do manage to sell Pienaar in January for a small fee, there are few prolific strikers available on loan &#8211; especially in January.</p><p>There are too many unanswered questions here &#8211; and only Steven Pienaar can resolve them.</p><hr />Fancy a flutter?
