Sky Sports sources understand Everton are weighing up a shock move to sign Wolves striker Kevin Doyle before the close of the transfer window.

Doyle is no longer first choice at Molineux due to the impressive form of Steven Fletcher this season and has started only one of the last six Premier League matches.

The Republic of Ireland international has also scored just twice in the League this term and has been linked with a January move away.

Having finally secured the departure of Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Spartak Moscow David Moyes may well have the funds to chase Kevin Doyle and the Irish international may well be keen on switching a place on the Molineux bench for a move to Merseyside ahead of the Euro 2012 finals this summer.

The 28 year old former Cork City striker honed his skills at Reading and made an immediate Premier League impact with the Royals, netting 56 goals in four seasons, before making the £6.5m move to Wolves where he enjoyed two solid terms before this current campaign where he has suffered with form whilst fellow striker Steven Fletcher has flourished.

Everton could well do with a new striking option having managing to average a goal game during the first 22 games of the season. The fact that the Toffees top scorer this term is full back Leighton Baines tells you all about the problems Moyes has had when it comes to firepower. Tim Cahill is usually a reliably option from the midfield but the Aussie has scored just one goal this season and Louis Saha has managed a paltry single goal return from 18 appearances.

One would imagine that Mick McCarthy would be loathed to lose Doyle but if pushed into doing so, would expect a fee near to that the club paid back in June 2009.

Everton’s Russian winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is understood to be close to completing a move to Russian club Spartak Moscow.

Spartak claim the 26-year-old Russia international has agreed personal terms, but talks are ongoing with Everton to finalise the deal.

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov has been more miss than hit since his move to Goodison Park back in August 2009 and any sale of the Russian winger will at least, in theory, hand David Moyes some funds to reinvest in his Toffees squad.

The 26 year old former Lokomotiv Moscow man has notched up 77 appearances during his Everton spell and netted nine goals but has seen his form, and subsequently first team chances, fade and has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club for the best part of a year.

The £10m invested in the Moscow born attacker represented a huge chunk of Everton’s transfer budget and Moyes will have been disappointed with the return on the club’s investment.

Spartak Moscoe have reportedly had reached “an agreement in principle” with Everton.

A statement on the Moscow club’s website added: “The contract will be signed after the medical examination.”

Everton midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is determined to stay and fight for a first-team place having been relegated to a bit-part player so far this season.

The 26-year-old has made just three appearances, two of which saw him substituted with the other being a 27-minute run out from the bench.

The Russia international is one of the stars who could be sold as manager David Moyes knows he must generate cash through sales in order to bring in new recruits.

Bilyaletdinov was linked with a return to his homeland in the summer but stressed he wants to stick it out on Merseyside.

“I want to stay here and prove something else,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I’ve got my agent, and maybe he got something (in the summer) but I’d say not now please – don’t touch me.

“We have got a lot of players in the midfield area and the task is different for every game.

“We can play with two or one (strikers). I think every manager has to choose certain players for certain games based on his vision for how the team should play.

“I can only work and wait for the pre-match meeting – if you play or don’t play you need to be focused even if it’s just for 10 minutes on the pitch because you can still change the game in that time.”

Moyes often gains praise for the poor resources he has had to work with so here at COS we felt he deserved a hand in rooting out the dead wood at the club.

But even we had difficulties due to the small size of the squad.

Has been an inspirational captain and David Moyes has managed to squeeze several good years from the veteran when everyone thought he was past his best. His legs are going though and going forward from full-back he is useless. Time to join his bro on the scrap-heap.

Tony Hibbert

A great servant to the club, but nowhere near good enough to get a sniff. When grandad Neville is being played ahead of him he really cannot be any good. Seamus Coleman has been very impressive and deserves a chance – time for Hibbert to move on.

Leon Osman

Another great servant for Everton and the midfielder has great natural ability, but it is not seen often enough for a team like Everton. Other options are available for David Moyes. The only problem is will Everton get much money for him?

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov

An exciting player but has never looked comfortable getting manhandled by men twice his size or weight. For all his undoubted ability it is unlikely he will ever adjust to the physical excesses of the English game.

Silvain Distin

Can be excellent on his day and is strong going forward for a centre-half but he is prone to make one howler in almost every game. The Frenchman has lots of competition for his place and with the high wages he is on, he could be released and a younger version brought in.

Desperate times call for drastic measures and David Moyes has admitted he may have to sell Steven Pienaar to revive his ailing strike force.

A 0-0 Goodison Park draw with Wigan Athletic on Saturday stretched Everton’s worrying run without a win to seven and, once again, they squandered a raft of chances.

That Jermaine Beckford is the leading striker with two goals says everything. Moyes is limited with what he can do in the transfer window.

But Tottenham want South Africa midfielder Pienaar and he only has six months left on his contract. ‘It may well come to it in the January transfer window that we have to consider selling Pienaar to raise money,’ said the Everton boss.

‘We need a striker but, realistically the sort of money we will raise through that route, what type of player is it going to buy us?’

Yakubu, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and John Heitinga may be preferable sales for Moyes but he admits: ‘It is probably a reality we will have to look at bringing in a loan player.’ (Daily Mail)

The trouble for David Moyes is that with just six months remaining on Steven Pienaar’s contract, his sale is unlikely to result in a huge windfall for Everton.

It is not all rosy for the player either.

Two teams have been strongly linked with him in the newspapers so far this season: Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Spurs have no need for Pienaar.

They have a surplus of midfield players already, and the likes of Niko Kranjcar have been vocal in their dissatisfaction with a lack of first team football.

It is difficult to see Pienaar getting into the Tottenham line-up ahead of their attacking midfield quartet of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Rafael Van Der Vaart or Aaron Lennon.

That leaves Liverpool then, and while there is certainly room for Pienaar in the starting XI at Anfield, would he really throw away years of affection and respect at Goodison Park with a move to Everton’s arch rivals?

Even if Everton do manage to sell Pienaar in January for a small fee, there are few prolific strikers available on loan – especially in January.

There are too many unanswered questions here – and only Steven Pienaar can resolve them.

Everton and Roma are set to battle for Ajax star Urby Emanuelson in January.

The 24-year-old can play at left back or in midfield and his versatility has made David Moyes take notice.

Moyes is keen to strengthen his squad in January and Emanuelson’s price-tag will appeal to him as the Scot has to operate on a small budget.

The Dutchman, who has been at Ajax since 2004, will not sign a new contract at the Amsterdam Arena and he will be free to leave next summer for nothing.

Ajax are keen to offload him this winter and will listen to offers around £4m for Emanuelson and Moyes is ready to make his move, with Roma also keen. (TalkSport)

Usually incoming transfer new makes easy reading for club supporters, but if this story from TalkSport is true, it would mean one of two scenarios – one of which is rather ominous.

Either Everton are planning to sign a versatile player who will provide decent cover to Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov on the left flank, or he is seen as a direct replacement for a player on his way out.

That would almost certainly be Pienaar.

The South African is out of contract at the end of this season, but has yet to commit to the club – meaning he is free to talk to other clubs from January.

While since signing for David Moyes’ team in 2007 for £2m he has flourished, it now appears that David Moyes could be planning for a potential future without him.

Clearly the impending departure of Joleon Lescott gives David Moyes some cash to splash and the acquisition of talented attacking midfielder Bilyaletdinov is a clever one. The 24 year old former Lokomotiv Moscow man is a regular in the international set up and is a usually contributor to the goal scoring list from his advanced midfield role.

He will take some of the slack from the likes of Mikel Arteta and Tim Cahill and add some much needed creativity to the Toffees side.
