Will Arsenal miss Adebayor as much as Flamini?

by Dexter on June 13th, 2008 49 comments

The Telegraph reports that Arsenal’s Togo international is set to politely ask the Arsenal suits if they would mind awfully if he left and went to Ac Milan

. “Further discussions are planned in the next few weeks but reports in Italy suggest that Adebayor will use the next meeting to tell the club, via his French agent Stephane Courbis, that he would like to move to the San Siro. (Telegraph)

With the player looking like he’d fancy swapping the Emirates for the San Siro, and with the Rossoneri apparently ready to offer £32 million for his services should Arsene just cash in and go hunting for a replacement (who he’ll no doubt unearth for 50 pence)?

Arsenal winger ‘angered’ by transfer speculation, despite his agent creating it in the first place!

by stresster on June 12th, 2008 7 comments

Alexander Hleb is a confused individual. The Times reports that the ice cream-loving Belarussian is mad at reports linking him away from Arsenal, despite his agent being possibly the most outrageous flirt in the history of football. Does this signify that the winger might be staying at the Emirates after all, or is he just having a hissy-fit for the hell of it?

“These reports anger me,” he said. “I have not signed for Bayern, Barcelona or any other club for that matter.

He added: “So much is being speculated and said, but I just want to have some peace and sit down with my closest friend [and representative] Niki Spilevski to consider my future.”

Is Hleb angry because the press are linking him to the wrong clubs? Should they be associating him with Real Madrid, Inter and Milan instead? Perhaps the player should consider his future very carefull before jumping ship, especially as Arsene Wenger plucked him from relative obscurity in the first place and made him into the player he is today.

Arsenal midfielder wants his Spanish team-mate at the Emirates

by stresster on June 11th, 2008 8 comments

Although you would imagine that the Gunners will have some pretty stiff competition, if indeed they are interested in landing David Villa this summer. The Valencia striker is arguably Europe’s hottest striking property at the moment after plundering a hat-trick for Spain on Tuesday night, and Setanta report that Cesc Fabregas is getting positively excited at the prospect of the striker wearing the red of Arsenal next season.

“He would be amazing for the English league,” Fabregas said.

“I would like to have him in my team because as you can see he can make the difference.

“He’s an amazing player. He has mobility, he scores goals … he plays well at the back of defenders, in front of them, he’s a tremendous player.”

Indeed, while all the talk before the match was about Fernando Torres, the Liverpool man was more of a provider than scorer during their 4-1 win against Russia. Still, it was encouraging for Reds fans to see El Nino frighten the opposition defence with his pace, something they’ll hope he continues next season.
