Everton have completed the signing of Nikica Jelavic from Rangers.

The 26-year-old striker joins the Blues on a four-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Jelavic completed a medical and agreed personal terms at Everton’s Finch Farm training base on Tuesday before putting pen to paper on his new contract at Goodison Park.

He becomes David Moyes’ third signing of the January transfer window, following deals for Landon Donovan and Darron Gibson.

Everton have attempted to pull off a complicated transfer coup as the transfer deadline loomed.

Manager David Moyes have been involved in lengthy talks with Tottenham over an elaborate deal which would see Louis Saha move to the north Londoners and Spurs’ ex-Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar return to Goodison in return.

But he at least managed to get close to concluding one deal, after agreeing a £6million fee with Rangers for their striker Nikica Jelavic, who arrived at Goodison earlier on Tuesday for a medical.

This could well be a deal that suits all concerned. Steven Pienaar has barely had a sniff of a Premier League start during his year at White Hart Lane and Louis Saha has seen his form dip this season and the soon to be confirmed arrival of Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic leaves him wondering where David Moyes sees him in the Toffees first team picture.

Harry Redknapp has been looking to strengthen his striking options and probably does depend too heavily on his attacking midfield and wing options for goals, Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart having netted a worthy 14 goals between them already this season, and a move to bring former Man United man Saha could add another dimension to the Spurs attack.

Pienaar enjoyed three and a half successful seasons at Everton before he made his move to Tottenham a year ago and the South African international was a very useful player in Moyes’ armoury. The former Ajax man was a constant attacking threat and if he does indeed act as part of a deal that sees Saha moving to North London then it may well be a deal tat most Everton fans approve of.

Moyes is apparently having to break off from discussions to rubber stamp the deal as he prepares his players for action as Everton entertain Man City tonight.

Tottenham coach Joe Jordan has refused to rule out the possibility of Juventus winger Milos Krasic making a move to White Hart Lane.

The Serbia international has been linked with a number of clubs since the transfer window opened, with teams in England, Italy and Russia said to be closely monitoring his situation.

EVERTON FC striker Louis Saha is in line for a shock transfer deadline day move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Harry Redknapp is expected to sell one of his periphery strikers today, with Russian Roman Pavulychenko the most likely departure, and the Spurs boss wants to add the experienced Saha as cover. He is expected to be offered an 18-month contract.

It is unclear yet what sort of fee EFC will receive, but with Saha having less than six months remaining on his current Goodison contract, it is likely to be minimal.

Louis Saha has managed just one goal in 18 Premier League matches this season and this may well have led to David Moyes looking to land Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic and hence Harry Redknapp’s interest in the veteran French international.

Tottenham are fighting to keep up with both Man City and Man United in the title chase and Redknapp may feel that some more attacking back-up is in need, especially if Roman Pavlyuchenko does complete his long awaited White Hart Lane exit. Jermain Defoe has been prolific as an alternative to first choice starter Emmanuel Adebayor but another forward could be handy as the games come thick and fast and the North London side look to progress in the FA Cup.

Interest in Juventus winger Milos Krasic makes less sense. Redknapp has first choice wingers Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon to call upon with big name back-ups like Steven Pienaar, Niko Kranjcar and Giovani to turn to if injury issues come to the fore.

Juventus appear keen to sell Serbian international and boss Antonio Conte doesn’t seem to be missing the former CSKA Moscow man as the Turin side sit pretty on top of Serie A having stayed the entire season unbeaten.

Everton and Rangers have struck a deal for the transfer of striker Nikica Jelavic, according to Sky Sports sources.

The Croatian striker has been linked with a host of clubs this month following a series of impressive performances in the SPL during the first half of the season.

Ally McCoist has made it clear that he would prefer to keep Jelavic but the level of interest has been so great that it looks as though Gers may have been able to agree what they believe to be a good deal.

David Moyes dodged questions about his interest in the 26-year-old on Monday after it emerged that Everton had lodged a bid over the weekend.

It is now understood that the two clubs have reached an agreement over a fee, with the Toffees able to spend some money following the sale of Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Spartak Moscow.

David Moyes may well have done a great bit of business here. Whilst it’s true that scoring goals aplenty in the SPL doesn’t necessarily equate to being able to do so in a ‘bigger’ league, Nikica Jelavic appears to have the ability to make it South of the Border and a number of prospective suitors must have also been tracking the Rangers man.

The 26 year old has netted 17 goals this season and would perhaps have been more amenable to sticking with his Glasgow side if they hadn’t lost the upper hand to a Celtic side who have recently completed their 12th straight win. However with the Euro 2012 finals around the corner Jelavic may have felt that a high profile Premier League move would help secure a regular spot in Slaven Bilic’s starting eleven.

Everton has struggled for goals, a problem highlighted by the fact that one of the club’s joint top scorers, with three goals, is left back Leighton Baines. Louis Saha and Tim Cahill have just one goal apiece so Moyes will look to Jelavic to hit the ground running as he looks to push his Toffees side towards the top six.

EVERTON are increasingly hopeful of clinching a deal for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic after David Moyes moved to bolster his forward line.
An initial bid was lodged yesterday using the proceeds of Diniyar Bilyaletdinov’s £5million move to Spartak Moscow, but Everton are likely to go to about £6m including add-ons. Jelavic, 26, has told Rangers’ boss Ally McCoist he wants to move to Goodison Park and solve Moyes’ painstaking search for reinforcements that has seen him check on the likes of Wolves’ Kevin Doyle.

This could prove something of a pivotal signing for David Moyes as he looks to pull his Merseyside outfit nearer the top six than the relegation zone. Having sold Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Spartak Moscow the Toffees boss appears to have the funds to make a decent offer for Croatian international Jelavic and Ally McCost saw his Rangers side win 4-0 against Hibernian on the weekend without the use of his top scorer.

The 26 year old former Rapid Vienna man has struck 17 goals thus far this season and notched up 19 in his first season at Rangers, during which time he helped his Glasgow side to a SPL title. However McCoist has admitted publicly that the striker had been pushing for a move South of the Border and that appears to be growing increasingly likely.

Everton have struggled for goals this season, with the club’s top scorer being full back Leighton Baines. Aussie Tim Cahill, usually a reliable source of firepower, has managed just one goal this season and Louis Saha has also managed just one goal in 18 Premier League appearances this season, therefore Moyes clearly felt the need to pursue a new striker signing this month.

Sky Sports sources understand Everton are weighing up a shock move to sign Wolves striker Kevin Doyle before the close of the transfer window.

Doyle is no longer first choice at Molineux due to the impressive form of Steven Fletcher this season and has started only one of the last six Premier League matches.

The Republic of Ireland international has also scored just twice in the League this term and has been linked with a January move away.

Having finally secured the departure of Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Spartak Moscow David Moyes may well have the funds to chase Kevin Doyle and the Irish international may well be keen on switching a place on the Molineux bench for a move to Merseyside ahead of the Euro 2012 finals this summer.

The 28 year old former Cork City striker honed his skills at Reading and made an immediate Premier League impact with the Royals, netting 56 goals in four seasons, before making the £6.5m move to Wolves where he enjoyed two solid terms before this current campaign where he has suffered with form whilst fellow striker Steven Fletcher has flourished.

Everton could well do with a new striking option having managing to average a goal game during the first 22 games of the season. The fact that the Toffees top scorer this term is full back Leighton Baines tells you all about the problems Moyes has had when it comes to firepower. Tim Cahill is usually a reliably option from the midfield but the Aussie has scored just one goal this season and Louis Saha has managed a paltry single goal return from 18 appearances.

One would imagine that Mick McCarthy would be loathed to lose Doyle but if pushed into doing so, would expect a fee near to that the club paid back in June 2009.

Everton show interest in Kris Boyd

Forward Kris Boyd’s supposed move to Major League Soccer could be off after Everton boss David Moyes registered an interest in his fellow Scot.

Boyd is a free agent following a turbulent couple of years in his career which has seen him struggle during a high-profile spell at Championship side Middlesbrough, go on a brief loan spell at Nottingham Forest and play for the Turkish club Eskisehirspor – who he left in December having played just two games, citing that he hadn’t been paid in six months.

28 year old Boyd may well be a cost effective way of boosting Everton’s attacking options but one must wonder at just how match ready the Scottish international is. The former Rangers man played just 76 minutes of top level football during his nightmare period in Turkey with Eskisehirspor.

Of course at Rangers the former Motherwell man was unstoppable, 127 goals in 151 starts. Moyes will be hoping he can show a return to that sort of form if he does indeed bring the striker to Goodison Park.

Everton are closing in on former Tottenham misfit Mounir El Hamdaoui, according to reports in Holland.
The Moroccan has fallen out of favour at Ajax after an argument with manager Frank De Boer and is yet to appear for the Eredivisie giants this season.
Birmingham were hoping to seal a deal for El Hamdaoui, while Fulham manager Martin Jol has also been linked with a move for the striker he signed while in charge at Spurs and Ajax.
But Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claims it is Everton who are now most likely to land him before the transfer window shuts – although there is also interest from Spain, Italy and France.
It is understood that the 27-year-old would join David Moyes’ side on a loan deal until the end of the season when the manager could buy him for an agreed £5m fee.

Dutch born Morocan international Mounir El Hamdaoui spent a year at White Hart Lane but didn’t play a single minute of competitive football for the North London side but it seems that David Moyes is looking to correct that statistic and a move for the 27 year old could be a useful, inexpensive, way to boost the Toffees fairly limp attacking options.

Everton have managed just 22 goals in 22 Premier League matches and Moyes has watched as his top striker, Louis Saha consistently fail to deliver the goods this term, netting just one goal in 18 Premier League matches. The club’s lack of firepower has been compounded by the fact that the usually reliable Tim Cahill has also hit a run of poor form, the Aussie managing just one goal himself this season.

El Hamdaoui has been a consistent marksman in the Eredivisie, netting 64 goals in the last three seasons. If he can be bought for a fee of just £5m then such a deal could represent a real bargain and given the lack of funds available to Moyes, such a deal would be doubly rewarding.
