Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign former West Ham and Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.
The 25-year-old Argentine forward, who left Old Trafford last month, will sign a five-year deal subject to a medical.
“It’s terrific news,” City boss Mark Hughes said. “He is an international of the highest class who possesses all the attributes to help drive us forward.
“This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner to make this club the very best it can be.”

So there you have it, Mark Hughes signs another striker, and even if you take into account the departures of Darius Vassell to Turkey (to a somewhat crazy rapturous reception), Daniel Sturridge and Jo’s loan move to Everton and the fairly likely exit of Benjani, the club still has a mountain of forwards.

To refresh your memories, the Eastlands outfit still has Robinho, Craig Bellamy, Ched Evans, Felipe Caicedo, Valeri Bojinov and new signing Roque Santa Cruz, that’s six international strikers plus Tevez, how the hell will the boss keep even half of them happy!

Surely the boss needs to bring in defenders? Clearly he has tried to get hold of John Terry, Matthew Upson, Joleon Lescott and Lucio, but none have taken the bait, this is clearly a problem that needs resolving otherwise the club will lose every game 5-4, which will be exciting to watch but will play havoc with the clubs fan’s nerves!

Anyway, the arrival of Carlito will surely not go down to well with their city rivals, but I guess that is merely a bonus for the Blue half of the city!

The Rumour

Manchester City are confident of unveiling Carlos Tevez by Monday in a deal taking Mark Hughes’ spending to £200million since he became boss.

City’s talks with Tevez and his advisers have led to a £25m deal being agreed to take the former United striker across Manchester.

Argentina international Tevez is poised to agree personal terms with City on a four-year deal that will earn the 25-year-old striker £120,000 a week.

Carlos Tevez was keen to avoid angering Man United fans by telling them he wouldn’t dream of signing for arch rivals Liverpool but then appears to have gotten confused and signed for fierce rivals Man City, he does know that the two teams share a city?

Anyway Mark Hughes will be glad to have convinced a relatively big name to Join him at Eastlands after failing to secure the likes of Ribery and Kaka. Carlito is a good player on his day and could well be a top notch signing but one wonders how exactly Hughes is going to fit all these strikers in one line-up?

For instance even if you ignore Craig Bellamy, Jo, Darius Vassell, Valeri Bojinov and Ched Evans, Benjani, Felipe Caicedo, how the hell will the club fit Roque Santa Cruz, Robinho and Carlos Tevez in the same team?

The Likelihood

Tevez to Man City: I think the fans can safely start getting his name on their new kits!

Caicedo is only 19 years of age and arrives from Basel on a four-and-a-half year contract with Man City for a transfer fee of £5.2million. Huge amount when you notice that he is coming into a side that is lacking top quality strikers and which is desperate to qualify for the UEFA Cup (at least).

Caicedo is already an Ecuadorian international with 15 caps and 3 goals and has been impressive for Basel. Yet he is a gamble for Eriksson since he is only 19 and yet to prove himself at the highest level.
