The Colombian was close to agreeing moves with both London clubs this week, with loan switches still being discussed right up to Tuesday night’s deadline.

But the proposals came too late, and left Wigan boss Roberto Martinez with no time to find a replacement.

Wigan knows Rodallega will leave as a free agent, but turned down a £4million bid for him from QPR because they did not want to sell to a survival-fight rival.

Hugo Rodallega was hotly tipped to leave the DW Stadium before the transfer window slammed shut but Roberto Martinez fought off advances for his striker, clearly feeling that whilst he may lose the Colombian for nothing in the summer he could at least call upon the 26 year old for the remainder of this campaign.

Rodallega finished top scorer at Wigan for the past two seasons though this season has managed just two goals.

Harry Redknapp’s interest in Rodallega will increase if he fails to lure Emmanuel Adebayor to join the White Hart Lane side on a permanent basis. Martin Jol signed Pavel Pogrebnyak on deadline day but also lost Bobby Zamora and is likely to see Andy Johnson leave in the summer so he may well be in need of another striking option come the summer.

QPR Agree £4m Deal for Fulham Striker Bobby Zamora

Queens Park Rangers have agreed to sign striker Bobby Zamora from Fulham for a fee in the region of £4m.

Zamora is yet to have his medical but personal terms have been agreed and he looks set to be reunited with his former Fulham boss Mark Hughes at Qpr.

The England forward joined Fulham for £4.8m from West Ham in July 2008.

Earlier this month Cottagers manager Martin Jol dismissed reports that Zamora was set to leave amid rumours of a rift between the two.

Mark Hughes has been a busy bee since joining Qpr earlier this month. Having already signed Djibriil Cisse and Nedum Onouha and brought in Samba Diakate on loan, now the Loftus Road boss is set to complete a deal to sign Fulham forward Bobby Zamora.

For all the gentle abuse the big forward receives, including THAT chant, the former Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham man has improved over the years and is now on the fringes of Fabio Capello’s England set-up. He is of course a fairly direct attacking option but he does posses good control.

His last two campaigns have been hampered by injury but he has still notched up a decent return of 33 goals in his last 91 appearances for the Cottagers.

Arsenal Reject Fulham Approach to Loan Park Chu-Young

Arsenal have rejected an approach from Fulham to sign striker Park Chu-Young on loan until the summer, Goal.com can disclose.

The Cottagers have been scouring Europe for striker options in recent weeks and make an enquiry for the South Korea captain, who has struggled to force his way into Arsene Wenger’s team.

But the Arsenal manager is confident Park, who cost the club £2.6 million, will be more effective in the second half of the season.

Given that Park Chu-Young has played just eight minutes of Premier League action one may be surprised that Arsene Wenger chose to reject Martin Jol’s approach for the club’s South Korean international. The Arsenal boss may plan to give the 26 year old more first team action in the second half of the campaign but as yet has not trusted the former Monaco to anything more than Carling Cup action.

With the North London club depending heavily on Robin Van Persie for goals, and the likes of Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh failing to make an impact, perhaps the Gunners boss will give Park Chu-Young more chance to shine. Thierry Henry was brought in from the New York Red Bulls to offer back-up and this seemed to suggest that the South Korean summer signing had merely fallen further down the Emirates Stadium pecking order.

Jol is looking to beef up his attacking options as he hopes to push his Fulham side further away from the drop zone.

Fulham have been indebted to great goal-scoring support from Clint Dempsey, who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season, whilst Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson have had up and down seasons at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal have however loaned out young Japanese winger to Bolton for the remainder of the season.

QPR In Talks to Sign Fulham Striker Bobby Zamora

Sky Sports understands Queens Park Rangers are trying to strike a deal for Fulham striker Bobby Zamora.

Zamora’s future at Fulham has been the subject of speculation for some time due to an alleged uneasy relationship with Martin Jol.

Qpr chief Mark Hughes is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and is a big admirer of Zamora having worked with him during his time in charge of Fulham.

Talks are thought to be taking place between both clubs as Qpr look to bring the striker Loftus Road.

With QPR struggling for goals and Bobby Zamora having a strained relationship with Fulham boss Martin Jol, this short distance move may well suit all concerned. Mark Hughes is getting the financial backing of Loftus Road chairman Tony Fernandes and having brought in Nedum Onouha earlier this month now it seems other new names are on their way to the West London club.

Former Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham man Zamora is on the fringes of the England national team set-up and may well harbour some hope of a spot in Fabio Capello’s Euro 2012 squad and a move to QPR may help kickstart a season that has been more miss than hit.

The 30 year old has been in and out of the Fulham side this season but has still managed seven goals in all competitions. QPR have been heavily dependent on veteran Icelandic international Heidar Helguson this term and could well do with an extra attacking option as the likes of Jay Bothroyd, Jamie Mackie and DJ Campbell have failed to make a goal-scoring impact thus far during the current campaign.

Man United Linked With Move for Fulham Attacker Clint Dempsey

Manchester United are being linked with Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey.

The USA international has been in flying form this season.

“You should never get content. I want to play in the Champions League. Nobody thought I would get this far. I want to go as far as I can,” said Dempsey.

Clint Dempsey has had a great season thus far this term, scoring 15 goals in all competitions, but one would wonder if Sir Alex Ferguson would be considering a move for the 28 year old Texan, especially as the Man United boss appears to have a policy of looking to bring in youthful additions over experienced signings.

Sir Alex Ferguson may well be looking to add more creativity to his midfield but Dempsey has been most effective in a striking role for Fulham and in that position Man United would appear to have more than enough options with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen to call upon.

Martin Jol will be loathed to lose the American but the comments from Dempsey would appear to suggest that the former New England Revolution man is considering his options and should a top six side come in for his services then the West London club may struggle to keep hold of him.
