The 22 year-old has enjoyed decent success on loan with the likes of Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and most recently, Racing Santander.

The attacker was somewhat forgotten at the North London side but since making the move to La Liga, seems to have revived his profile somewhat.

Although dos Santos is thought to prefer a move to warmer climates, if the Merseysiders will meet the £9.7m price-tag of the Mexican star, they could tempt Spurs into selling.

SOURCE: FootyBunker

This would be something of a surprise move for Liverpool to make but it is worth noting that Anfield’s director of football Damien Comolli was the man who brought Giovani Dos Santos to White Hart Lane from Barcelona so clearly the Frenchman values the Mexican youngster.

The 22 year old has made just two Premier League starts since his move to North London over three years ago and appears to not be part of Harry Redknapp’s first team plans. Given that Daniel Levy did not hand the Tottenham boss much in the way of a summer transfer fund boost it seems plausible that any decent bid for Giovani would be accepted.

Giovani dos Santos is an adaptable attacker who can play either in an advanced central midfield floating role, out wide or in the hole behind the strikers. He is young and clearly has the raw potential to make a name for himself and his top performances for Mexico prove he has the ability to follow up on that potential.

Liverpool have a number of midfield options but may feel that a new attacking weapon would come in handy. Though the likes of Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing were brought in over the summer the Merseyside club also lost Raul Meireles and sent out Alberto Aquilani and Joe Cole out on loan, with neither looking likely to be part of Dalglish’s long term plans.

Join the Best Football Manager game now, Its Free!

The Giovani dos Santos Mystery: What Does Tottenham Boss Harry Redknapp Have Against the Mexican?

Extra Time

Features

Homepage

Premier League

Tottenham FC

adel taarabt

giovani dos santos

tottenham

White Hart Lane boss seemingly has no interest in talented youngster. Under the tutelage of Juande Ramos, the young Mexican was given opportunities but we all know that Ramos’s time didn’t last too long and in came Mr Redknapp.

The former Portsmouth boss has done an incredible job at White Hart Lane but he has failed in producing the best out of a talented youngster, who has the credentials to be a world beater. The fact is, Giovani has rarely been given any opportunities at all by the Spurs boss and has been shipped out on loan to Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and most recently, Racing Santander.

Giovani is not the first youngster that Redknapp has failed to acknowledge in his time at the Lane as he shipped out, the now growing stars of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Adel Taarabt in his early days at the club, due to not being able to find a way to incorporate them into the team.

Boateng now plays for AC Milan and has earned plaudits across the world of football after a magnificent world cup display in South Africa last summer. Adel Taarabt is of course one of the most promising and sought after youngsters in world football, being linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. Redknapp, however, seemed unable to spot the talents of these two young midfielders.

If the club were to have kept these players on for longer then surely it would have left them in better stead to challenge for that Champions League spot last season. Also, they may not have been so worried about losing Luka Modric this summer, if they had the genius, Adel Taarabt to fall back on. Truth be told, the Tottenham hierarchy have made a real faux pas in shipping these players out and they run the risk of doing it again with the Mexican prodigy.

Giovani Dos Santos has been criticised by Harry Redknapp for his supposed lack of professionalism.

This sort of attitude from a footballer is not one that will take you far and if the Mexican is wasting his time out and about at nightclubs at the weekend then he is at fault, but for young footballers this is not uncommon. This happens all the time with youngsters who have got cash to splash but the gaffer just has no interest in helping this talent progress and it is difficult to see why.

Anybody who saw the recent Gold Cup and particularly the final between Mexico and USA will have seen the raw talent this 22-year-old possesses and will be disappointed by the stall in his career.

The winger scored an immense winning goal after dribbling the ball around several players, including the goalkeeper before exquisitely chipping the ball into the top corner to secure a 4-2 victory for Mexico and crown themselves Gold Cup champions.

This beautiful goal topped off a man of the match performance by the Tottenham man, in a game where he showed great drive and determination. Every time the ball came to his feet, onlookers and the USA defence knew something was going to happen and every time, it did!

The forward was constantly running towards goal with the ball, dribbling past several players and playing great link-up player with Manchester United revelation, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.

At no point did Giovani show any signs of lack of professionalism as he inspired to whole team throughout the match before leading them into the final whistle as champions.

Redknapp surely knows what a talent he has on his hands and must see his quality in training every week and so it baffles spectators as to why he won’t help this young player become the player he is destined to be. Maybe the Spurs boss just does not have the capabilities to guide such players, as was the case with Adel Taarabt and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Redknapp could not figure out how to use Taarabt in an effective manner and take the risk of playing him in the role behind the striker. A couple years later, he signed Rafael Van Der Vaart who filled that position between midfield and defence, proving he couldn’t create his own superstar but instead had to fork out cash for an already establish bearer of that role.

It looks as though the same will happen this summer with Giovani Dos Santos, who looks intent on making the switch back to Spanish shores and linking up with Sevilla in a £6.5Million move.

It is impossible to predict the transfer sage of Luka Modric and whether he will go or not, but the fact remains Harry Redknapp will constantly toe the party line – ‘we are not a selling club, we will not sell our best players’. Probability is that Giovani Dos Santos will leave the club this summer and Redknapp will have lost one of the best young talents to grace the Premier League in a long time, all because the gaffer was too scared to just take a risk on the young lad.

Follow Alun on Twitter twitter.com/#!/AlunLUHG

Join the Best Football Manager game now, Its Free!

Tottenham to Offload Nine In Summer Clear-Out to Finance £60m Spree to Keep Modric and Bale at White Hart Lane

Features

Homepage

Premier League

Tottenham FC

Transfer Rumours

alan hutton

david bentley

giovani dos santos

Harry Redknapp

jermaine jenas

Niko Kranjcar

robbie keane

Sebastien Bassong

tottenham

Wilson Palacios

younes kaboul

Harry Redknapp set for major White Hart Lane cull. Now however plans are afoot to offer players at cheaper prices to help speed up the process, so that the Spurs boss can then use the funds to bring in much needed striker reinforcements after seeing the likes of Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane fail to make an impact last season, costing the club their place in the top four.

Blackburn Rovers will be keen to snap up Keane having failed to land a number of high profile strikers, the most recent of which being Roma front man Mirko Vucinic. Giovani’s impressive performance at the Gold Cup has attracted the interest of Sevilla who may now be more willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price.

David Bentley has been linked with a move to Norwich City, where the winger spent a season long loan period back in 2004/05, the last time the Canaries were in the top tier. The East Anglia side could however struggle to meet the £10m valuation placed on the 26 year old, so once again Tottenham may have to lower their asking price to achieve a quick sale.

Napoli are said to be interested in Wilson Palacios and Sebastien Bassong has been linked with a move back to Ligue 1 after an stop/start two years at White Hart Lane. Back up performers Alan Hutton, Niko Kranjcar, Jermaine Jenas and Younes Kaboul can also be happily offloaded without making too much of an impact to numbers at Redknapp’s disposal.

It is perhaps a sign of the over indulgence of manager Redknapp that Tottenham can happily sell nine players without such sales making a great deal of impact to the club overall.

Harry Redknapp will want such deals to be done sooner rather than later so that he can prevent the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart from leaving the club who are very much experiencing the down side to speedy success.

The fact that Tottenham managed to superbly complete a top four finish the season before last and then get to the Quarter Final’s of their maiden Champions League voyage is something the club should celebrate but because Redknapp’s men managed a fifth place finish last season, which is still a great achievement given where the club were when the former West Ham and Portsmouth boss took over from Juande Ramos, it seems that some players are even hungrier for success.

Join the Best Football Manager game now, Its Free!

Mexico Star Giovani dos Santos Scores Wonder Goal to Defeat USA (Video)

Extra Time

Features

Homepage

Video Loving

giovani dos santos

mexico

A truly memorable goal that killed off the United States and helped Mexico to Gold Cup glory after being two goals down. It is clear that Harry Redknapp has a massive Tottenham squad and failure to qualify for the Champions League will have a knock on effect on the club’s finances, but it is far more beneficial to remove under performing members of the squad rather than having to listen to offers for the club’s top stars.

The likes of Rafael Van der Vaart, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Sandro have all been strongly linked with interest from Europe’s elite and Redknapp has steadfastly held his ground by stating that none of those players would be sold, so clearly in order to not have to sell any of his important players, he knows he must cut a swathe of players from his squad that do not offer him a great deal.

Of those on this list from the Independent arguably only a handful would be missed. Those out on loan were clearly on the periphery and the likes of Keane and Giovani have stated their desire to move on. Pavlyuchenko is consistently linked with a move away from Tottenham and the Russian may feel that the time is right to leave after failing to convince Redknapp that he should be a first team regular.

Right backs Corluka and Hutton have shared duties this term but Redknapp has been linked with moves to bring in a new player for that position. Palacios looks a shadow of the player he was last term and Kranjcar, though talented, is not better than those ahead of him in the pecking order.

Join the Best Football Manager game now, Its Free!

Frustrated Tottenham Star Wants To Stay In Spain

Features

Football and Soccer

Homepage

La Liga

Premier League

Tottenham FC

Transfer Rumours

giovani dos santos

Harry Redknapp

Juande Ramos

Racing Santander

White Hart Lane outcast wants to end time in North London and move back to Spain. I just wasn’t given a chance.

“The situation wasn’t ideal either, because when I signed Juande Ramos was in charge and I was quite regularly involved.

“Then he got sacked and Harry Redknapp came in, and I’ve not been part of his plans.

“This season has been more frustrating because I thought I’d get more playing time.

“I came back from the World Cup, played during pre-season and performed very well in several games, but yet again I wasn’t given an opportunity.”

“There is no problem with me and Harry Redknapp at all,” he added.

“I trained hard and gave 100 per cent during the week because I wanted to convince him to give me more playing time, but at the end of the day it’s his decision and it didn’t go my way.

“The most important thing is that I’m now doing really well here in Santander.

“At the moment I’m trying to rediscover my best form and I want to be back at the top of the world game in the not-too-distant future. That’s my goal and I’m very focused on achieving it.

“This spell at Racing has really helped me regain my confidence and match sharpness, and I think I’m on the up again.”

Join the Best Football Manager game now, Its Free!

Tottenham Attacker Giovani Dos Santos Makes La Liga Loan Move

Extra Time

Features

Homepage

La Liga

Premier League

Tottenham FC

giovani dos santos

Racing Santander

tottenham

White Hart Lane attacker on his way to La Liga.
