Norwich City manager Paul Lambert insists his side has nothing to fear at Liverpool in tomorrow’s late kick-off just as they did at Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Canaries lost 3-1 at Stamford Bridge and 2-0 at Old Trafford, but have picked up 11 points from their other six games to sit ninth in the Barclays Premier League.

“We know how hard it’s going to be, they’re a club with great tradition and history and have some great players, but I don’t think our players are frightened by it,” said Lambert today.

“We’re not going up there with any trepidation or fear. We are going there to try to win a game the way we did at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.

“Yeah we got beaten, but we went and gave it a go and we will give this one a go as well.”

Boosted by the 3-1 home win against fellow promoted side Swansea last weekend, he added: “We’re playing at a high level at the minute and we’re a match for most of the teams at this moment in time.

“But we have to sustain the standard we’ve set ourselves – there’s only a handful of games gone – and hopefully the lads will do it.

“The way we are playing we are creating a lot of chances and converting some. The lads are full of confidence and have that spirit they’ve had for the last few years.

“That seems to have taken us a long way, but there’s also a lot of ability in the side.

“As the game goes on your concentration level has to be really high. That’s the nature of top-level football and you have to handle it – you make no apology for it because that’s the level you aspire to be.”

Lambert played under Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish at Celtic.

He added: “They don’t come any bigger than him and his enthusiasm is great for the game.

“He’s done brilliant in turning it round for them, while Steven Gerrard coming back has given them a major lift.”

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra will pursue his allegation of racism against Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, according to his manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 30-year-old was furious with with Suarez after the 1-1 draw at Anfield last weekend and claimed the Uruguayanracially abused him on a number of occasions during the game.

Suarez has denied any wrongdoing but Evra is confident TV replays will support him.

Although the full-back feels TV replays will prove his claims, Suarez has denied them strongly, and has been backed by Liverpool.

Ferguson has sought Evra out for a chat ahead of United’s Champions League encounter with Otelul Galati in Romania tomorrow.

“I spoke to Patrice today,” said Ferguson. ”He is adamant he wants to follow it on. It is not an easy one for us.

“Everyone knows Manchester United and Liverpool have great responsibilities in terms of things that happen on the field.

“Saturday was terrific. Both sets of fans were good. There was not any of that silly chanting we have had in previous years. Both sets of fans deserve praise for that.

“It is not something we would want to level against Liverpool and it is not against Liverpool.

“Obviously Patrice feels very aggrieved at what was said to him. It rests in the hands of the FA now.”

Members of Parliament will today debate the full release of documents relating to the Hillsborough Disaster.

Labour MP for Leigh, Andy Burnham, will lead the discussion in the House of Commons to find the truth of the tragic event 22 years ago during the FA Cup semi-final between the Reds and Nottingham Forest.

The unreleased documents include testimonies of eyewitnesses, including members of the South Yorkshire Police force at the match.

Details of the discussions held by Baroness Thatcher, the Prime Minister at the time, with her Cabinet are also to be released.

It is expected that the documents will be released first to the families of the victims before they are made available to the media and the public.

“Come 10pm on Monday, I think we will have an unstoppable momentum,” Burnham told The Times. “The overwhelming consensus now is for the [Hillsborough Independent] Panel to finish the job.

“It has gone way beyond the realm of party politics. I am almost certain the House will unite behind this.

“I’m told there are one or two voices who might stand up and oppose full disclosure, but I would be very disappointed if that’s anything more than a small minority.

“I made a commitment on the twentieth anniversary to try to help get the truth for the families and I will never stop until that happens, so that the country can see the full scale of the injustice that happened at Hillsborough.

“It is a deep, unresolved injustice and for a long time it was only the victims families and the people of Liverpool and Merseyside [campaigning].

“But with the online petition, 140,000 voices have given the families their solidarity and it has given the campaign what I believe is unstoppable momentum.

“The facts of what happened at Hillsborough are not widely known by the public.

“I will quote from some of the police officers’ statements that were amended. It is a story of how there was an orchestrated campaign to take the blame away from the authorities and place it on the victims, their friends and their relatives.

“That is what happened and, because of that, the public perceptions are wrong.

“It is a national scandal, how the country allowed the victims of a tragedy like that to be denigrated.”

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish admits Manchester United are the best team in England but has challenged his team to change that.

The Scot played a major part both on and off the field in the trophy-laden dynasty established by the Merseysiders in the 1970s and 1980s.

But he is aware the power balance has shifted and acknowledges United are the dominant force having beaten the Reds’ record of league titles last season.

“They are a fantastic team, a hugely successful football club, and we know it’s going to be a very difficult game.

Chelsea have offered striker Salomon Kalou a new contract to try and prevent him moving to Liverpool.

The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his current deal but manager Andre Villas-Boas wants to prolong his stay in west London.

The Ivory Coast international signed from Feyenoord in 2006 for £8million and has since made 146 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals.

But he has been a substitute in 57 of those games, with the forward starting just twice in the league under Villas-Boas so far this season.

It is for this reason Kalou is looking at other options as he wants to be more than just a squad player with Liverpool keen to give him the opportunity he craves.

But Villas-Boas is keen to tie down Kalou on extended terms, along with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

“Kalou was offered a contract and hopefully we will continue talks,” AVB told the club’s website. “In January these players are available to discuss their future.

“We’ll continue talks until we reach an agreement or not.

“The fact that they are emotionally tied to this club – like Nico [Anelka] – too, means we can count on them while they are negotiating.

“Their loyalty to the club will never be in question.”

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson wants to return from his hamstring injury against Manchester United next weekend.

The 27-year-old picked up the problem in pre-season against Valencia and then aggravated the knock when appearing as a substitute at Stoke on September 10.

The England international has not featured since, but now has his sights set on United’s visit to Anfield on October 15.

“I’m feeling good at the moment and I’ve been doing plenty of running,” Johnson told the club’s website.

“I’ve just started doing ball work outside in training so I reckon it won’t be too long now.

“I’m working hard and it would be nice to be back in the squad for the Man United game. Hopefully I can make the bench anyway, so fingers crossed.”

Meanwhile assistant coach Steve Clarke insists now is the time for captain Steven Gerrard to step up his fitness work after recovering from a groin strain.

“For Steven it’s just a progression. He’s coming back from a long-term injury and we’ll try to treat him as cautiously and carefully as we can,” Clarke said.

“Obviously there will be a time when he is going to have to push on – and I think this is the time now.

“We’ve only got a very small group of players left behind because we’ve got a lot of players away on international duty.

“There were only six players training on Wednesday, but we managed to get a lot of good work into them with such a small number.

“On Thursday we’ll bring up the reserve-team squad to join in, which will give us more numbers.

“With Steven it has been well documented that we’re looking after him.

“He’s going to have to push himself in the coming weeks – and the more minutes we get into him, the better.”

The Welshman linked up with the Uruguay international to score his first goal since returning to the club in the 2-1 Carling Cup win over Brighton.

Bellamy is delighted to be up and running but credits the goal to the player who has helped rejuvenate the Reds since his arrival from Ajax last January.

“I managed to link up with Luis Suarez who is such an impressive player and it was a good feeling,” Bellamy said. “It was a nice goal and I was pleased with it.”

The 32-year-old has a reputation for causing trouble but manager Kenny Dalglish has nothing but praise for Bellamy since his arrival from Manchester City in the summer.

“We knew what we were getting when Craig came in,” the Liverpool boss said. “We’ve said many times before what Craig brings to this football club.

“He had a year out last year when he played at Cardiff rather than in the Premier League and we are getting the benefit of that because he has got a hunger to come in and impress.

“He’s got a desire because maybe he went away with a bit of unfinished business the last time he left here.

“So he’s got a desire to relight that and we’ll get the benefit of it.

“He’ll make a contribution to the football club over the length of his contract and hopefully last night was just the beginning for him.

“He loves playing football and is really enthusiastic. He wants to do well and we’ll help him to do that all that we can.”

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is delighted to be back playing and can put is injury hell behind him.

The 31-year-old came off the bench in the Reds’ 2-1 Carling Cup win at Brighton last night – his first action for six months.

The England international underwent groin surgery in March and then picked up an infection setting his rehab back.

But the midfielder is now back and is looking to reclaim his regular first-team spot.

“It was good to be back with the lads,” he said. ”I’d been out a long time and it was fantastic to be out there in that kit again and it was nice to get a win as well.

“It’s been a nightmare for me. I’m not the best when I’m out injured and watching games. It’s been tough and the last six months have been a rollercoaster.

“But it’s behind me now and I’m looking forward to getting match fit and getting back in the starting line-up.”

The Carling Cup is being taken seriously by manager Kenny Dalglish and Gerrard is hopeful they will be rewarded with a good run.

“We’re glad to be in the draw for the next round and we’re looking forward to seeing who we get in the draw on Saturday,” he added.

“We haven’t been to a major cup final for a long time.

“We have to take every cup seriously and when there’s no Europe that makes it easier to put strong sides out.

“Kenny has assembled a fantastic squad now with a couple of good players in each position.

“Even when he mixes it around or rests people we still put a strong side out like last night.”

Liverpool are lining up a £10million January bid for Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez.

The 20-year-old has impressed in Italy with his seven goals and two assists in 17 starts for the Serie A side last season.

The Uruguay international joined his current club from Penarol in the summer of 2010 and has a contract with the Serie A club until 2015.

He is being tracked by a number of clubs including Inter Milan, Roma and Barcelona, according to the Sun.

But the Reds hope they can use Ramirez’s friendship with striker Luis Suarez as a deal breaker in the same way the hit-man helped lure Sebastian Coates to Anfield.

Joining Kenny Dalglish’s men would certainly interest the winger who is keen to test himself at the highest level.

Bologna had a tough season last term, coming 16th in the Italian top flight and have had a poor start to this campaign and currently lie 19th with no points thus far.

Meanwhile, Dalglish insists his team do not have a disciplinary problem despite having two men sent off during the 4-0 defeat against Tottenham.

“We’ve got a good disciplinary record,” he said. ”We will look at the video, and if there is something wrong we can correct it.

“You never saw a mass of Liverpool players running to the referee to dispute a decision, so there is no discipline problem.”
