Everton close to landing Manchester United striker: Can he form a lethal partnership with the Yak?

by stresster on August 29th, 2008 2 comments

Better late than never will be the sentiment shared by Everton fans, who see their club crank it up to the gigawatts in their attempt to sign new players before the transfer window shuts on Sunday. The Toffees appear to have missed out on their first batch of targets this summer, although they’re just about to land a striker who is quality – when he happens to be fit. Sunderland ‘close to landing £8.5 million striker’ from Manchester United

by stresster on August 5th, 2008 5 comments

Now this would really be a signing of intent from Roy Keane, but would it be a wise one, considering how injury-prone this striker has been in past few seasons? The Irishman recently acquired El Hadji Diouf and it appears that he’s aiming to make his front line even more lethal. [Read the rest of this entry »]

West Ham want £10m pair: ONE good, ONE more trouble than he is worth

by Mr Comfort on May 21st, 2008 15 comments

Alan Curbishley appears keen to beef up his goalscoring options for next season, which is understandable when you consider that when you take Dean Ashton out of the equation, last season’s next top scorer only managed four league goals. And hence the latest rumour relating to possible attacking targets.

West Ham are after an attacking £10m rated pair as Curbishley looks to capture Manchester United striker Louis Saha and Bolton winger El-Hadji Diouf. (The Guardian)

Now I think that when he isn’t plagued by injury (which is pretty much all the time at present), Louis Saha is a 15-goal-a-season striker in the Premier League and well worth considering a bid for, especially if the price is right. However I do not see the worth in pursuing Diouf as I can’t see him doing much forWest Ham. What do Hammers think of this pair? Worth buying or better to steer clear?

Manchester United to offload Saha?

by sub on February 7th, 2008 1 comment

That Louis Saha’s future at Manchester United is uncertain is clear to everyone and the Goal.com </a>report that Man United are scanning entire Europe for a potential buyer for the 29-year old injury prone French international striker flares up the issue once again.

Saha has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of the 23-year old Argentine international Carlos Tevez from West Ham United in the summer and the string of injuries that have continuously rocked him in his Man United career is proving to be detrimental in his chances of crawling back into the Man United first team.

So is Saha on the move? Man United do not need him at all and Saha is by no means a world class player. But which club would raise its hands to sign the player?

Good news for Man United: Trio to return

by sub on January 18th, 2008 6 comments

All you Manchester United fans: here’s some good news for you. The injured trio, namely Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Louis Saha, have all been tipped to be back before long and gladly before than they were originally thought to return.

Goal.com reports that while Scholes’ knee ligaments have healed and he has resumed training and should play against Spurs in a FA Cup tie later this month, Neville would also be back at around the same and maybe even earlier. Neville is actually set to fly out with the Man United team on a four day camp to the Middle East but united manager Sir Alex Ferguson is also thinking of keeping him at home to allow him to play another reserve match.

Saha is also likely to return from injury and Man United consistently maintain that the French international striker is not out for the rest of the season at all. Although the club has failed to define the exact time for the player’s comeback, the officials have maintained that Saha will play his part in United’s season.

Manchester United are already top of the Premiership and have started to peak at just the right time and with the return of Scholes, Neville and Saha, the Red devils would become an even greater force.

David Gill: Louis Saha isn’t a perma-cripple!

by sub on January 14th, 2008 7 comments

Louis Saha is a key component of this Manchester United side and is crucial in coming off the bench and scoring vital goals. But the Frenchman’s career at Old Trafford has been punctuated at various times and stages by injuries. His string of injuries has become so persistent that various press reports in England suggest that the striker would remain on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

But Sky Sports reports that the injury to Louis Saha is not so grave. It quotes Man United’s chief executive David Gill telling Radio Five Live that Saha would return soon.

This is what Gill told Radio Five Live:

He only has a slight knock He is not going to be out for the rest of the season – I know that for a fact.

But Gill’s failure to give any indication to the time when Old Trafford fanatics would be able to watch Saha is action shouldn’t be ignored. Is Saha truly out for the rest of the season? If so, then shouldn’t Man United try and sign another striker this month for cover?

Rejoice! Perennial cripple Saha, won’t be injured for long.

by Dexter on January 13th, 2008 no comments

Manchester United’s talented cripple Louis Saha, will not be out for the rest of the season, contrary to reports being bandied about in France. A whispering campaign claimed that Saha had sustained a knee ligament injury in training on Friday that would keep him out for the rest of this season.
United’s chief executive David Gill begged to differ, he told BBC Radio Five Live that:

“He only has a slight knock, he is not going to be out for the rest of the season – I know that for a fact.”

Even though the Saha saga of injuries has been almost ongoing since he moved from Fulham to United in 2004, he has managed four goals this season, and a fit Saha will be a major boost for Sir Alex Ferguson, who can add the Frenchman to his current barnstorming attack.
