Blackburn defender turned down move to Holland
by sub on January 30th, 2008 no commentsNow Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer has more than a funny name; he has an admirer in Louis van Gaal. Tribal Football reports that the AZ Alkmaar manager did indeed approach his Dutch compatriot earlier this month but was turned down by the player.
The former FC Barcelona coach is quoted as saying:
He is a Dutch citizen, and he has experience. But he would prefer to remain at Blackburn Rovers.
Well, maybe van Gaal must now try and understand that not every player would like to leave the Premiership and play in the Dutch first division.
