The bid was rejected by the Rojiblancos as they look to keep their remaining stars after the sales of Seydou Keita and Daniel Alves to Barcelona, and Christian Poulsen to Juventus.

Talking to Spanish newspaper Marca, Capel stated that he was happy to stay at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium:

I am calm and I am only thinking about succeeding here at the moment.

It is clear that in the future you do not know what may happen, but I have a contract with Sevilla and I am comfortable.

Capel’s comments, coupled with the £23 million from the sales of Robbie Keane and Paul Robinson, could reignite Ramos’ interest in bringing Blackburn winger David Bentley to White Hart Lane. Tottenham were reportedly in pole position for a £17 million move for the England international, only for new Rovers boss Paul Ince to say otherwise. However, after missing out on one winger and with more funds firmly in the pocket, it can only be a matter of time before they move for Bentley.

The question is, who would Spurs rather have in their squad? 20-year-old Capel or 23-year-old Bentley? A £12m Spaniard or a £17m Englishman?

Watch Blackburn live online

Watch Tottenham live online

Spain midfield maestro rejects Aragones

Champions League

La Liga

Estadio El Madrigal

Fenerbache

luis aragones

Marca

Sarı Kanarya

valencia

Newly-appointed Fenerbahce coach Luis Aragones wasted no time in trying to lure one of the key members of Spain’s Euro 2008-winning squad to Turkey. However, Brazilian-born Senna rejected the chance to move to Turkey, instead staying at Estadio El Madrigal, in spite of a reported deal of up to €3.5 million (£2.75 million) a year.

The 32-year-old, who had been linked with Manchester United, told Spanish newspaper Marca:

Luis is a great man and an admirer of Brazilian football.

I have spent six years in Spain and I feel very loved at Villarreal.
