Fulham are closing in on a loan deal for Marseille forward André-Pierre Gignac and could bid for his international team-mate Guillaume Hoarau, according to reports in France.
French radio station RMC SPORTS have reported that an agreement has been reached between Fulham and Marseille that will see Gignac move to Craven Cottage until the end of the season, with an option for the Londoners to make the move permanent for a fee of £6.7m.
The same station has also suggested that Fulham have enquired about Paris St-Germain striker Guillaume Hoarou, but any move for the 27-year-old is unlikely to take place before the French side confirm Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager.
With Martin Jol rumoured to have fallen out with Bobby Zamora, and Andy Johnson set to leave in January, moves for Gignac and Hoarou would certainly provide a much-needed attacking boost for the Craven Cottage club.

Whilst Fulham boss has been quick to deny any speculation around a possible falling out with Bobby Zamora the fact that the England man didn’t even make the Cottagers squad for the West London derby on Boxing day spoke volumes. Andy Johnson is also likely to leave as his contract is up in the summer and a sale next month would help avoid the loss of the £10.5m signed player for nothing.

Jol has had to rely heavily on goals from the midfield and wings, chiefly from Clint Dempsey and Bryan Ruiz, so the addition of this French pair would do wonders for the club’s pursuit to climb the Premier League table. Similarly Guillaume Hoarau has found himself out of the PSG since the big spenders brought in new striking options over the summer.

Andre-Pierre Gignac’s career has stagnated somewhat at Marseille and the 26 year old has the quality to make it in the English top tier.

Fulham striker Andy Johnson has rejected the club’s offer of a one-year extension on his contract as he is holding out for a two-year-deal.

The 30-year-old can leave Craven Cottage for free this summer but the west London club may decide to cash in on him in January if he does not commit his future soon.

The England international will be available for a nominal price, possibly as little as £2million, which will alert a number of clubs.

He cost Fulham £10.5million in 2008 and has endured a topsy turvy career with the Cottagers mainly because of injury.

Former boss Roy Hodgson would love to take him to West Bromwich Albion but it is understood the in-form poacher would prefer to stay in London where his family is settled.

This could put Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United in the driving seat but Johnson wants to continue playing Premier League football, and that is not guaranteed at either club.

Fulham manager Martin Jol wants to keep him and is trying to convince Johnson to change his mind and sign on the dotted line.

“I talk to him almost every day,” said Jol. “I tell him there isn’t much difference between one and-a-half and two years, but he doesn’t agree.

“He wants this year and another two years. That is the only thing we are arguing about.”

Senior players at Fulham are upset manager Martin Jol fined Pajtim Kasami £500 for missing a penalty during the Carling Cup defeat to Chelsea last month.

The 19-year-old hit the bar in the 47th minute after Alex was sent off for bringing down Karim Frei and Fulham went on to lose after extra-time and penalties.

A number of players are understood to have voiced their disapproval at the punishment but Jol insists it was because Orlando Sa was the designated penalty-taker.

The Switzerland U21 international claims he did not realise Sa  was supposed to take the spot-kicks in the absence of club captain Danny Murphy.

“A few of the lads were upset Kasami got fined after the Chelsea game because it was ridiculous – if he had scored, there would not have been a problem,” a Fulham source told the Daily Mail.

“The players have been quite lucky in the last few years because (former managers) Roy Hodgson and Mark Hughes didn’t really bother with fines.

“But Jol fines players for lots of little things, like being late for team meetings or throwing a strop if they are substituted.

“That’s fine, as the payments are minimal and the fines are for bad discipline, but the Kasami thing upset a few of them.”

Doubts are increasing at Craven Cottage over Jol’s man-management style, with reports emerging of a bust-up with striker Bobby Zamora.

The England international was furious he was told he would not play in the Europa League against Odense last week via a text message.

The pair have not spoken since with Jol labelling Zamora “sensitive” and adding: “Hopefully Bobby will start liking me – because I like him after scoring a goal.”

Fulham are preparing a double bid for FC Twente stars Nacer Chadli and Bryan Ruiz.

The Craven Cottage club have formally lodged a bid for winger Chadli but have been told to double their £4.37million offer by Twente chairman Joop Munsterman.

The 21-year-old has impressed for the Eredivisie side since joining from AGOVV last summer and scored in both recent Champions League clashes with Tottenham.

The Belgium international has been attracting interest from across Europe with Fulham not being the first team to have a bid rejected.

Cottagers boss Martin Jol is also in the market for a striker and has inquired about Spurs target Ruiz.

The Costa Rica international has a £13.75million release clause but Fulham were hoping to compromise over a fee.

Munsterman confirmed the interest in the 25-year-old but he does not expect the deal to get very far.

“The offer for Chadli we consider a half bid, “he told Voetbal International. “And Bryan did not even want to join Fulham.”

Meanwhile, Leeds United winger Max Gradel has confirmed the Cottagers interest in signing him.

“Are Fulham interested in buying me? Yes,” he told the Daily Mail. “I know West Ham are interested in buying me, too.”

Fulham manager Martin Jol still wants two more signings this summer with a back up striker for Bobby Zamora top of his wish list.

The Cottagers boss will take charge of his first Premier League match tomorrow in four years against Aston Villa following his sacking from Tottenham.

He has brought in John Arne Riise and little-known midfield duo Marcel Gecov and Pajtim Kasami this summer but still wants more additions to his squad.

A string of injuries could leave his squad vulnerable given the demands of playing in the Europa League and fighting on the domestic front.

Jol feels his squad lacks a target man to fill in for Zamora when he is not fit, but admits bringing in a quality striker will be difficult.

A bid for Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome was rejected but Jol has not given up hope yet.

“I’m happy with the squad we have got, if they are fit,” Jol said.

“That is probably not realistic though so that’s why we are looking for one or two additions.

“It will be hard to find someone like him (Zamora). If Bobby is injured, we lack a number nine. On the other hand, Clint (Dempsey) can play that position.”

Jol had worried that this weekend’s clash in London would be called off due to the unrest in the capital.

With the game now being given the go-ahead, Jol is relishing his Premier League return after playing Europa League qualifiers.

“We are very happy that the game is on,” Jol added. ”The main thing was that we wanted to play football.

“I don’t see there is a lot of difference in playing friendlies (or playing in the Europa League qualifiers). It wasn’t as if we were playing Inter Milan or Ajax. It was Crusaders and Split.

“Hopefully it will have given us enough preparation for the season.”

Fulham have made an improved £3.5million offer for Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome, following an initial £3million bid being rejected.

The Cottagers are awaiting news from the Midlands club as boss Martin Jol looks to strengthen his squad.

An injury scare suffered by Zamora prompted Jol to act to bolster his squad, with the former breaking his hand a week ago.

Jol wants Jerome to act as cover for the England international as he realises how much Fulham depend on him.

“If there is a problem with Bobby, I have to create another formation,” he said, revealing his failure to land Jerome had not spelt the end of his search.

“Of course, there are always players. Even abroad, there are one or two players we had a look at. We made a bid as well.

“If they accept it then we’ve got a new player. But if they don’t, we go on like it is.”

Jol admitted Zamora’s injury record was a concern but denied his game time would need to be managed in the same way as Tottenham defender Ledley King

“Bobby’s probably injured occasionally,” said former Spurs boss Jol.

“Ledley King was different. Ledley King was out for seven months when I was there in the second year. That was a structural problem. With Bobby, it’s not a big problem.”

Fulham are preparing a £1.5million bid for Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen, who has failed to impress during his time at Anfield.

The 31-year-old only joined the Reds 12 months ago after being signed by former manager Roy Hodgson for £4.5million.

The Cottagers boss Martin Jol wants the Denmark international to strengthen his playing squad ahead of a gruelling season in the Europa League, according to Setanta Sports.

Liverpool are keen to offload a number of fringe players, including Poulsen, to enable them to generate more funds to re-enter the transfer market.

Fulham have signed Palermo midfielder Pajtim Kasami for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old has signed a four-year deal keeping him at Craven Cottage until 2015 after impressing for the Serie A club last season.

The Switzerland U21 international, who was born in Macedonia, also played well during this summer’s U21 European Championship before losing to Spain in the final.

Kasami has become boss Martin Jol’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Csaba Somogyi and Marcel Gecov.

“Pajtim is a young, talented midfielder who has potential, so we are very excited about signing him on a four-year contract,” Jol said.

“He is a versatile midfield player who can adapt quite easily to more than one position. He is a key player in the Swiss Under-21 team.

“I am delighted to have been able to add two talented young players to my squad with the signing of Pajtim Kasami today, and Marcel Gecov last week.

“I believe that they are going to be good additions to the squad both in the short and long term future.”

Fulham have completed the £700,000 signing of Slovan Liberec midfielder Marcel Gevoc on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old impressed during the summer’s U21 European Championships for the Czech Republic and has been on the Cottagers’ radar for the past year.

He has now passed his medical and will train with his new team-mates ahead of Thursday’s Europa League tie with Crusaders.

“He’s signed and I am happy with him,” said manager Martin Jol. “He is a very talented player.

“Good midfield player and played against England [in the Under-21 European Championships] and got two assists so he is full of confidence.

“He knows he can play against English teams and that helps. He signed the contract yesterday. He had a very good tournament and was very decisive in games.

“That gave us confidence and he has been on our radar for at least a year. The Fulham scouts knew him and had very good reports on him.”

“He is a typical midfield player and he is relatively young,” he added. ”He is aggressive and, as I’ve said, I am happy he is on board.”

Fulham have completed the signing of Roma defender John Arne Riise for a fee believed to be around £5million.

The 30-year-old has agreed a three-year deal to link up with his younger brother Bjorn Helge at Craven Cottage.

The Norway international spent three seasons in Serie A with Roma after seven successful years at Liverpool.

He made more than 230 appearances for the Reds, and won the Champions League, and Riise admits he is glad to be back in England.

“I’m delighted to have completed my transfer to Fulham this morning and am looking forward to playing in the Premier League once again,” he told the club’s website.

“Fulham is a club that I have been following as my brother, Bjorn, plays here and he speaks very highly of the club and the staff.

“Obviously I also played against the club in the Europa League group stage when they went on to reach the final of the competition.

“I know that the club is ambitious and continues to make good progress each year, under the guidance of the chairman, Mohamed Al Fayed.

“I am looking forward to working with Martin Jol and the rest of the squad when I report to training next week.”

The Norway international is recently-appointed manager Martin Jol’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Hungarian goalkeeper Csaba Somogyi earlier this week.

“John Arne Riise is an experienced international left-back, who will bring a number of qualities to our squad and provide more options for me,” said Jol.

“He is used to performing at the very highest level for both club and country and is an accomplished player defensively, who can also contribute to our attacking play.

“I am extremely happy that we’ve been able to add him to our squad, and believe that he will prove a valuable addition as we progress.”
