The Independent reports that the wailing and gnashing of teeth at Goodison could quieten down soon, as Everton appear to be close to siging several players. Everton manager fails to sign Portuguese duo & leads Toffee’s charge from the edge of the Top 4 to midtable drudgery…

Everton fans have had a wretched summer, and according to the Daily Mail, it is about to get even worse, as the deals for the Portuguese duo Moyes has been trailing both collapse.

Moyes has been chasing Sporting Lisbon’s Moutinho for the whole summer, and an excruciating game of cat & mouse has ensued, with Sporting demanding more and more money while Everton inched their bids higher slowly but surely. Sporting now look set to slam the door shut in Moyes’ face, and with Tiago also set to turn his nose up at a move to England, Moyes will be desperately scrambling for anyone with a pulse.
